Kennedy will reject the Padres' qualifying offer, Ken Fosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy actually averaged 9.3 striekouts per nine innings, one of the best marks of any free-agent starter, but an inconsistent career to this point likely gave the 30-year-old pause prior to declining the qualifying offer. The Padres will now net a draft pick if Kennedy signs elsewhere, but the club is expected to at least attempt to re-sign the right-hander. However, considering a couple big-market teams like the Dodgers, Cubs and Red Sox are all interested in starting pitching it's unclear how hard the Padres plan to pursue their former starter.

Kennedy was extended a qualifying offer by the Padres on Friday, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a strong 2014 campaign, Kennedy took another step back in a career that's been plagued by inconsistency. He suffered a career-worst 15 losses to go along with a 4.28 ERA, but he's expected to turn down the qualifying offer and hit the open market.

Kennedy (9-15) ended his season on a high note Thursday, striking out 11 Brewers while allowing just a run on five hits over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
This season represents a significant step backward for Kennedy, who didn't come close to duplicating last year's 201 innings, 207 strikeouts and 3.63 ERA despite making 30 starts. He struggled through much of September after briefly getting his ERA under the 4.00 mark, giving up 18 runs over the four starts immediately preceding Thursday's gem. Of course, this was a tough campaign for the Pads as a whole, as they entered the season with high expectations and roundly failed to deliver on them.

Kennedy gave up four runs on 11 hits and a pair of walks while striking out five in five innings against the Giants on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
After a seven-inning, 12-strikeout effort in his first start of September, Kennedy's regressed significantly, giving up 21 runs (18 earned) in 20.2 innings over his last four outings. He'll look to end what's been a disappointing season on a high note against the Brewers next week. The greatest weakness in Kennedy's game has been the long ball, as he's given up an awful 29 homers in 162.1 innings.

Kennedy (8-15) hurled a quality start on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over six innings in a loss to the Rockies. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy is one of very few pitchers who have success at Coors Field, but this is now three straight quality starts for him there. Home runs and walks have been the bugaboo this season for Kennedy, as he has allowed 29 homers and 50 walks in 28 starts this season. Kennedy shows flashes of brilliance, but mixes that too much with poor outings to completely trust him for standard-mixed leagues. He has to square off against Madison Bumgarner in his next start on Thursday in what should be a lo-scoring game.

Kennedy (8-14) was clobbered over 4.2 innings Saturday night, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two in an 8-0 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy retired the Giants with relative ease the first three frames, before allowing four runs in the fourth inning and three runs (including an Angel Pagan home run) in the fifth. Inconsistency has defined Kennedy's year, as the right-hander has delivered a 9.10 K/9 but seen his home run totals skyrocket --his 1.72 HR/9 ranks second among qualified starters, compared to just 0.72 last season. The 30-year-old will next take the mound Friday against the Rockies.

Kennedy allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over five innings Monday in a loss against Colorado. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
This is turning into the typical story for Kennedy, as he racked up strikeouts and induced 15 swinging strikes, but found his mistakes punished. He allowed four extra-base hits out of the seven Rockies hits, including a home run by Colorado pitcher Kyle Kendrick. His ERA sits at a disappointing (particularly for PETCO Park) 3.99 despite an excellent 151:46 K:BB.

Kennedy whiffed 12 batters over seven innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Padres. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
The 12 strikeouts tied a career high for Kennedy, but he couldn't escape his problems with the long ball, as he gave up a solo shot to catcher Chris Gimenez in the fifth inning, the 27th homer he's served up this season. Kennedy has at least done better in curbing the home runs lately, though, as Wednesday's blast was the first he'd allowed in three starts. In those same outings, he's now struck out 29 batters over 19.2 innings, making him a potentially dominant daily option if he's simply able to avoid a few mistake pitches.

Kennedy allowed two runs on two hits, walking five and striking out seven over 6.2 innings of a 7-1 loss to Philadelphia on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy (8-12, 3.94 ERA) again saw his normally solid command desert him as he needed 118 pitches to get through 6.2 innings. He walked three in the opening inning without being scored upon, walked two more, hit a batter, and uncorked a wild pitch, but managed to avoid any major damage in a strong, albeit losing, effort. Kennedy has pitched much better in the second half, but he is still inconsistent and could still be a risky play going forward.
