Kennedy (hamstring) is likely headed to the 15-day DL, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports. Kennedy immediately motioned to the dugout after a pitch in the third inning of Thursday's game and was later diagnosed with a left hamstring strain. Manager Bud Black suggested afterward that a DL stint was possible, but it now sounds as though Kennedy will indeed end up missing at least a couple weeks. Odrisamer Despaigne, who did not give up a hit over 4.2 innings in relief of Kennedy on Thursday, would be a logical fill-in.

Manager Bud Black indicated after Thursday's game that Kennedy (hamstring) could require a stint on the disabled list, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports. Kennedy exited during the third inning after pulling up lame on a pitch. It initially appeared as though he suffered a lower-back injury, but the issue is related to a hamstring instead. Odrisamer Despaigne, who replaced Kennedy on Thursday, would take his spot in the rotation if necessary, but more on his status should be revealed in the next couple days.

Kennedy was removed from Thursday's start against the Giants due to a strained left hamstring. Kennedy was pulled in the third inning, and while he initially appeared to be pointing to his lower back, it turns out he injured his lead leg. This is probably better news for owners than a back or arm injury, but it still wouldn't be surprising to see Kennedy land on the disabled list. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, with Odrisamer Despaigne the leading candidate to fill in, if Kennedy is unable to pitch.

Kennedy left Thursday's start in the third inning wincing in pain and pointing to his lower back. The Padres haven't yet announced the nature of the injury, but it appeared to either be a lower back injury or side injury.

Kennedy agreed to a one-year, $9.85 million contract with the Padres on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. Kennedy shaved nearly 130 points off his ERA from 2013 in his first full season with the Padres, and while he did benefit from the pitcher-friendly dimensions of Petco Park (7.8% HR/FB), his 3.21 FIP was a career best and suggests he pitched even better than his surface numbers would indicate. The right-hander finished fifth in the NL with 207 strikeouts and will rewarded with a nice raise in his final season before free agency.

Kennedy (13-13) picked up the win on Friday against the Giants, as he gave up one unearned run on four hits while striking out six batters. The Padres' pitching staff has been very good this season, and Kennedy is no exception as he maintained a sub-4.00 ERA to go along with 207 strikeouts in an injury-free year. Look for Kennedy to keep a rotation spot warm in 2015.

Kennedy allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in 6.2 innings in the Padres' 8-2 win over the Giants on Sunday. Kennedy has been strong in his past three starts, allowed eight runs total in 18.2 innings. The two runs are the least he's allowed since Aug. 30. His ERA moved to 3.76 as a result of the start. He'll be back on the mound Friday against the same team.

Kennedy pitched six quality innings Tuesday, allowing three runs on just three hits and four walks while striking out seven in picking up his 11th win of the year. Although he hasn't had a great second half, Kennedy has done a serviceable job this year, owning a 3.80 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 196:67 K:BB in 187.1 innings. His next start is set for Monday at home against the Rockies.
