Gonzalez started the fourth inning but was removed after giving up a pair of hits before he recorded an out. After allowing just two hits in his last start, Gonzalez was knocked around by a Braves team that is next-to-last in runs scored. Gonzalez has had a down year by his standards, his 4.40 ERA being his worst since 2010. While he still has a winning record at 10-9, Gonzalez is now on the wrong side of 30 years old and seems to be on the decline.

Gonzalez's lone blemish was a solo home run by Freddy Galvis in the fifth inning. Gonzalez is now 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over his last seven starts, lowing his ERA to 4.14 on the year. While that would be the highest ERA of Gonzalez's career, he's still striking out nearly a batter an inning, and his 1.31 WHIP is an improvement over the 1.42 mark he posted in 2015.

After a tough luck no-decision in his last start, Gonzalez insured himself a victory by largely shutting down a potent Rockies offense. The veteran southpaw surrendered only a second-inning sacrifice fly to Daniel Descalso and a fourth-inning RBI double to Nick Hundley, otherwise cruising to his ninth overall victory and third in his last three decisions. The 30-year-old will look to get above .500 when he takes on the Phillies next Wednesday.

Gonzalez picked up his eighth win, but he wasn't near his best Wednesday. He was given a 4-1 lead after two innings, but allowed the Indians to come back and tie the game in the fourth. The southpaw's five innings marked his shortest outing over his last eight games, and the four earned runs Gonzalez allowed were the most he's surrendered since June. With that said, the veteran grinded through the 103-pitch battle, inducing an impressive 16 swinging strikes, to win back-to-back starts for just the second time all year. Gonzalez will go for a season-high three straight victories in his next start Monday at hitter-friendly Coors Field in Colorado.

The veteran southpaw was in early-season form, giving up only a solo homer to Angel Pagan in the fourth and throwing an efficient 104 pitches over his seven innings. After a difficult late May-late June stretch that saw him drop six straight decisions, Gonzalez has rebounded with victories in four out of his last six, and has given up just seven runs (five earned) over the 25.1 innings covering his last four starts. He'll try to extend this recent stretch of success when he takes on the Indians next Wednesday.

Gonzalez (6-9) threw six solid innings against the Giants on Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks, but took a tough-luck loss.

EDGE Analysis

Gonzalez wasn't overpowering Sunday, striking out just one. But he kept the Nationals in the game, and threw his fourth straight start allowing two earned runs or fewer. Unfortunately for Gonzalez, Giants starter Matt Cain was lights-out, throwing five hitless innings before being removed with a high pitch count. The Nationals managed just one run all night, leaving Gonzalez with the loss. Despite the one strikeout, Gonzalez still has a solid 115 on the season over 121.2 innings. His ERA now sits at 4.29.

Gonzalez allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 6.1 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against Cleveland.

EDGE Analysis

After a rough June (6.83 ERA, 15 walks in 27 innings), Gonzalez has righted the ship in July, as he now has three quality starts in four outings this month. Unfortunately, a Jonathan Papelbon blown save kept him out of consideration for the win Tuesday night. He'll try to keep things going next time out Sunday in San Francisco.

Gonzalez (6-8) turned in six strong innings Wednesday, limiting the Dodgers to one run on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts in an 8-1 win.

EDGE Analysis

Startlingly, this outing was the lefty's best in two full months, dating back to May 18, the last time he gave up just one run in a start. After that game, his ERA sat at 1.86; following Wednesday's start, it's 4.53. Sharper control was the key to this one -- he'd walked three or more in five of six starts coming in -- but it's been tough to rely on Gio to maintain that efficiency from start to start.

Gonzalez (5-8) gave up two runs on four hits and four walks over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out three, to pick up the win over the Mets.

EDGE Analysis

He needed 108 pitches to get through those 5,2 frames (62 strikes) and Gonzalez has now walked at least three batters in five of his last six starts, posting a 6.40 ERA and 33:20 K:BB in 32.1 innings over that stretch. He'll try to use the All-Star break to clear his head and make whatever mechanical tweaks are necessary to find the plate a little more often.
