Despite the quality start, Gonzalez dropped his seventh game in his last eight decisions. The southpaw continued to have trouble commanding his pitches on Tuesday, allowing three-plus walks for the fourth time in his last five starts. Gonzalez's lack of control has pushed his pitch count over 100 in a majority of starts, and has limited him to less than seven innings in all but two outings this season. He'll get one more crack at it before the break when he takes the hill Sunday against the Mets.

You could hear fantasy owners around the globe exhale after this one, as Gonzalez was 0-6 with an 8.44 ERA in his previous seven starts. Despite notching his first win since May 18, the left-hander was less than impressive in his final outing of the month. Gonzalez will gladly welcome July after posting a horrendous 7.16 ERA in six June starts. These numbers are particularly concerning when considering that, over the past three seasons, Gonzalez has been more dominant in June than any other month.

It was his shortest outing since Aug. 15, as he only survived 69 pitches. In his last two appearances, Gonzalez has allowed 11 runs in 8.1 innings, and since May 23, he has a 0-6 record with a 8.44 ERA, which makes this likely his worst stretch of his career. For the season, Gonzalez now has a 4.73 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, .266 batting average against and 88 strikeouts in 85.2 innings. His next start will be Thursday against the Reds.

Gonzalez (3-6) allowed six runs, five of which were earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss Sunday at the Padres.

EDGE Analysis

After holding the Padres to a single run over three innings, he gave up runs in each of his next three innings to force his exit. Since owning a 1.86 ERA after his first eight starts of the year, he's struggled over his last six outings to raise his ERA to 4.25 on the season. He'll make his next start Saturday at the Brewers.

Gonzalez allowed three runs on five hits and four walks with nine strikeouts over 6.1 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Cubs.

EDGE Analysis

Gonzalez nibbled all night against the Cubs but managed to induce 19 swinging strikes and get seven groundball outs. However, three of the five hits the Cubs managed went for extra bases. Still, Gonzalez has bounced back with consecutive quality starts after allowing 18 runs over 15.2 innings in his previous three outings, and he has 19 strikeouts over his past two starts as he has looked as nasty as ever in 2016 with 80 strikeouts in just 79 innings.

Gonzalez (3-5) struck out 10 in seven innings against the White Sox on Thursday, but took the loss despite allowing just three runs on five hits and two walks.

EDGE Analysis

In this battle of Gonzalezes, Miguel outdueled him on the other end, which is something you certainly don't hear every day. This was Gio's first double-digit-whiff performance of the year and a welcome improvement after he was tagged for 18 runs over his prior three outings. His velocity's been down this year, but he was able to sit in the low 90s Thursday, which is a positive sign moving forward.

Gonzalez (3-4) fanned eight hitters but still took the loss versus the Reds on Friday, surrendering nine hits and five earned runs over six innings.

It was a rather unusual outing for the veteran southpaw, who pitched very well for stretches but who was primarily done in by a difficult second inning. Gonzalez managed to throw 62 of 100 pitches for strikes, and induce 13 swings-and-misses. However, he also allowed run-scoring singles to Eugenio Suarez, Zach Cozart, and Brandon Phillips in the second frame, and then saw Suarez touch him up again in the third with a solo homer. The 30-year-old has now given up 18 earned runs over his last three starts, a span of 15.2 innings. He's seen his ERA rise more than two full runs over that stretch-- from a stellar 1.86 to 3.94-- but has also fanned 21 hitters as well. He'll try to get back on track on his next trip to the mound, which comes Thursday versus the White Sox.

Gonzalez (3-3) pitched only 4.2 innings during Saturday's loss against the Cardinals, in which he allowed six runs on six hits and four walks while striking out six.

EDGE Analysis

The four walks represent a season-high total for Gonzalez, and it seemed like he didn't have his best stuff in this game. Gonzalez has allowed 13 runs over 9.2 frames in his last two outings, and his ERA increased to 3.57 on the season.

Gonzalez (3-2) struggled through five innings against the Mets in Monday's 7-1 loss. He allowed seven runs on ten hits while striking out seven.

EDGE Analysis

After shutting them down in his last start, the Mets unleashed a flurry of offense against Gonzalez that included three home runs. One of the most surprising elements of the Nationals' strong start this season has been that Gonzalez has been perhaps the club's most consistent pitcher. He began this start with a 1.86 ERA, the best on the team, but that number increased by a full run to 2.87 after this disastrous outing. It's the first time Gonzalez has allowed seven earned runs in a start since May 11, 2014, against the A's.

Gonzalez (3-1) limited the Mets to one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five in 6.1 innings during Wednesday's 7-1 rout.

EDGE Analysis

Yoenis Cespedes got him for a solo homer in the fourth inning, but otherwise Gonzalez mostly silenced the Mets -- that was their only extra-base hit off the veteran lefty. Eight starts into 2016, he's stunned the National League by delivering a 1.86 ERA, refreshingly outpitching his peripherals after posting an ERA more than half a point higher than his FIP in both 2014 and 2015. At the same time, his average fastball velocity has fallen off precipitously -- it's more than two mph lower than his norm. That's extra concerning when the stats already say regression should be expected. Gonzalez will draw a rematch with Bartolo Colon and the Mets on Monday.
