Giancarlo Stanton indicated on Friday that he has put the tumultuous offseason behind him and is ready to "push forward" with the Marlins.
Stanton was rightfully unhappy to see the Marlins' firesale this offseason, but he has decided to take the high road and move on with a positive attitude. While the downgrade in his supporting cast could hurt his RBI opportunities, Stanton and his massive power potential could provide first-round value in fantasy leagues this season.

Giancarlo Stanton has committed to playing for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Stanton, who has openly criticized Marlins ownership and been the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent weeks, is one of the best young power hitters in the game and a tremendous addition to the USA lineup. He joins David Wright, Adam Jones, Ryan Braun, Joe Mauer and Brandon Phillips as stars who have already committed to the team.

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins "are not moving" Giancarlo Stanton and haven't even "discussed" it internally.
Spencer was also told that details of the Marlins' recent discussions with the Padres about Stanton were "completely off base" and "totally ridiculous." He writes that while the Marlins have listened to team's inquiries on Stanton "out of professional courtesy," they are "not entertaining any thoughts" of trading him. A deal involving the cost-controlled superstar always seemed like a huge longshot, and this report should hopefully put all the rumors to rest.

Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Padres are one of many teams that the Marlins have spoken to regarding slugger Giancarlo Stanton.
But there haven't been detailed discussions between the two sides, and Stanton still seems incredibly unlikely to be traded. The Marlins have checked on the availability of Padres infield prospect Jedd Gyorko in the past, and Center speculates that it would take at least Gyorko and two other top prospects with several years of team control to make a deal work.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports was told by a source that the chances of the Marlins trading Giancarlo Stanton are "as close to zero as they can be."
Stanton has naturally drawn a lot of interest, but this report doesn't come as a big surprise. Marlins assistant general manager Dan Jennings said over the weekend that the club will listen to offers on anyone, but they would have to completely blown away to even consider it. The 23-year-old slugger won't be arbitration-eligible for the first time until next winter and remains under team control though 2016.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Mariners have contacted the Marlins about Giancarlo Stanton.
One source that Morosi spoke with doubts a deal will occur, so it was probably just a matter of due diligence. Marlins assistant general manager Dan Jennings said Sunday that the club will listen to offers for Stanton, so it wouldn't be surprising if most teams check in. Still, it's highly unlikely that the Marlins will move him. At least right now.

Marlins assistant general manager Dan Jennings said Sunday that while they will listen to offers for Giancarlo Stanton, they are "not shopping him and don't want to move him."
Not surprisingly, a host of clubs have called the payroll-shedding Marlins to gauge Stanton's availability, but a deal involving the supremely talented outfielder is extremely likely. Stanton isn't eligible for arbitration until next offseason and is under team control through 2016, so he's exactly the kind of player the Marlins should be building around.

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that while the Marlins don't intend to shop Giancarlo Stanton, the asking price is considered sky high.
"It would be easier to list who hasn't called," one person close to the Marlins told Knobler. From what the Marlins are telling teams, any trade package would need to begin with three top-level prospects and would likely require teams to part with two other players. Still, while Stanton is disgruntled with the Marlins, a deal is seen as highly unlikely.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Phillies, Red Sox, Yankees, Orioles, Cubs and "many more" teams have inquired about Giancarlo Stanton.
It's natural that teams are asking the Marlins about Stanton following their blockbuster deal with the Blue Jays, but there's little reason for Miami to trade the cost-controlled young star. If they would wind up making him available, most every team in baseball would probably have some level of interest.

Giancarlo Stanton continued to voice his displeasure with the Marlins after Tuesday's blockbuster deal with the Blue Jays, questioning the motivation of the deal, and simply stating that he "doesn't like this at all."
Stanton added that he had former Marlins players warn him that something like this could happen. Continuing his frustration, he noted that while he knows how he feels, he can't imagine how the city and the fans feel over the situation. While he is unlikely to be traded anytime soon, it will certainly hurt the Marlins chances of signing him to a long-term extension.
