Marlins president David Samson told Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post on Sunday that the club has had internal discussions this year about a possible long-term contract for Giancarlo Stanton. "I don't think it it has been anything concrete," said Samson. Stanton could qualify for arbitration this winter as a Super Two player, but he'll remain under team control through 2016. Getting the 22-year-old under contract for the long haul would send a positive message to Marlins fans in what has been a tumultuous and disappointing year.

Giancarlo Stanton launched his 25th and 26th homers Monday as the Marlins steamrolled the Diamondbacks 12-3. Stanton was mad about going without a homer in Coors Field on Sunday. Even with that gap, he has five homers in his last five games. He also had four doubles, a triple and four homers in eight games lifetime at Chase Field.

Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI Saturday in the Marlins' win over the Rockies. Stanton entered the evening with a 1.754 career OPS and five career home runs in five career games at Coors Field. And he only padded those stats. The Marlins' young slugger is now batting .288/.360/.583 with 24 big flies in 91 games this year and should remain a force down the stretch.

Giancarlo Stanton is not in the Marlins' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Mets. It's just a routine day of maintenance for Stanton, who went 4-for-5 with a double and a pair of home runs in Wednesday's rout of New York. He'll back on Friday night.

Appearing in just his second game since coming off the disabled list, Giancarlo Stanton made life miserable for the Mets in Wednesday's 13-0 rout, going 4-for-5 with a double, pair of home runs and four RBI. Stanton took Chris Young deep for a two-run bomb in the first before getting him for another two-run shot in the fifth. Surprisingly, the multi-homer night was his first of the season, though it was his fifth in just 332 career games. Stanton will bring a .290/.367/.577 slash into Thursday's rubber match.

Marlins activated OF Giancarlo Stanton from the 15-day disabled list. The 22-year-old slugger .284/.364/.554 with 19 home runs, 50 RBI and a .919 OPS in 80 games played this season. He should be plugged back into fantasy lineups immediately.

Giancarlo Stanton (knee) said Wednesday that "it'll probably be around 2 weeks" before he returns from the disabled list. Stanton underwent surgery on July 8 to remove two small cartilage chips from his right knee. He began hitting in the cage last week and took batting practice on the field at Marlins Park on Monday. While he's progressing quite nicely, the real test will be how he responds to running. As of right now, a return in mid-August is likely.
