Stanton (hand) has put his rehab on hold due to an "abnormal amount" of scar tissue in the area where his hamate bone was removed, the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stanton took batting practice earlier in the week and visited with a hand specialist after he continued to have trouble with the strength of the wrist. The scar tissue could reportedly impact his siwng for the entirety of the offseason, so despite Stanton's optimism, he is extremely unlikely to return before the close of the season. For now, his 2016 prospects are not in jeopardy, but it will be important to track Stanton's rehab as we move into the winter.

Stanton (wrist) still has no specific timetable to return to action this season, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
He visited a hand specialist for another opinion on his broken left wrist this week, but the Marlins have yet to release a plan for Stanton's return to game action. He took batting practice on the field Monday, but should be considered out indefinitely.

Stanton (wrist) was limited to dry swings Sunday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stanton indicated that he's still struggling to regain full strength with his pinky and ring fingers, which could delay a potential rehab assignment until later this week. It still seems likely that Stanton will be able to reenter the Miami lineup before the season ends, but those who have been stashing him may not get as many at-bats out of him the rest of the way as expected.

Stanton (wrist) will swing a bat Wednesday to test his hand, and could play in a rehab game with High-A Jupiter if all goes well, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stanton was initially aiming to rejoin the Marlins on Friday, but the most recent reports indicate that's doubtful. However, the fact that he could play in a rehab game Wednesday is a good sign, and likely places him on the cusp of rejoining the Marlins.

Stanton (wrist) now appears doubtful to return Friday after he said Tuesday that he feels OK but "not 100 percent," Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins have every reason to be cautious with their $325-million man, and with the outfielder still dealing with lingering effects from the broken left wrist, it's looking unlikely he'll be back for Friday's opener against the Mets. A weekend return for Stanton has not been ruled out, but he'll need to give the thumbs up and get the green light from the training staff before being activated.

Stanton (wrist) is scheduled to begin a rehab stint at High-A Jupiter on Tuesday, with the aim of rejoining the Marlins for Friday's game against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There is some concern that High-A Jupiter's game on Tuesday will be rained out, though a postponement wouldn't necessarily affect Stanton's timeline. The Marlins obviously don't have a ton of incentive to rush their superstar back, but it's worth noting that his injury, a broken hamate bone, is a tough one for batters to bounce back from. It thus won't be surprising if he takes some time to get going once he returns.

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is on track to return from his wrist injury in early September, according to MLB.com. Stanton has not played since he broke a bone in his wrist while taking a swing on June 26, but he has participated in a wide range of baseball activities of late including taking swings against a pitching machine. "It's a happy medium of both right now getting my timing and almost to where I want to feel," Stanton said. "That's (what) the ideal timetable would be. I'd like to do that with the machine, so hopefully I'm getting my timing right there and just need the (big-league) games for more standing up, sitting up type of deal. Timing between at-bats to get warm and cold. I don't have much time to do that to be honest. For their schedule and for ours. Hopefully my timing will be there and we'll go from there." The 25-year-old had 27 home runs and 65 RBI before suffering the injury.

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, out since June 27 with a broken hand, hopes to return before Sept. 1, according to MLB.com. Stanton hit live pitching for the first time this week since landing on the disabled list, but he said he still has some minor discomfort. Manager Dan Jennings said the team will not rush Stanton back to the starting lineup before he is fully healthy. "Time for that is to be determined," Jennings said. "I think it has to do with the strength factor in his hands and wrist. When you're a hitter and the strength is not there, it's tough to feel comfortable swinging the bat. You can be a little tentative. When he feels the strength is there, he'll step on the accelerator. When he's healthy, he'll be back. I know he wants to finish on a positive note. I hope that can be sooner rather than later."

Stanton (wrist) is still feeling pain in his surgically repaired wrist but remains on track to be back with the club within the initial 4-6 week timeline, the Miami Herald reports.
Stanton does not have his full range of motion back and is unable to make a fist with his left hand, but he is less than two weeks removed from surgery and there is little cause for concern. The slugger is targeting an early-August return.
