Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Wednesday that Gavin Floyd will stay in the Braves rotation. "I don't want to go six-man rotation," Gonzalez said about the rotation. "I don't think it works. I don't think it's good. But (Floyd) is one guy that would not go to the bullpen, I don't think, just because of the Tommy John. We all know how the bullpen thing is. You get up. You get down. You go in. You got to warm up in 15 (pitches), and I don't want to do that to him." It's unclear who will get removed from the rotation to make room for Floyd, but Alex Wood appears to be the easiest and most likely choice.

Making his season debut Tuesday, Gavin Floyd allowed one run on six hits over seven innings but settled for a no-decision against the Cardinals. In his first start since April 27 of last year, Floyd showed no ill effects of the Tommy John surgery he underwent last May. The right-hander walked two while striking out five in the outing. The stagnant Braves offense couldn't get Floyd his first win of the year as well, but it was still a very positive showing for the 31-year-old. His next start will come Monday at the Giants.

Gavin Floyd will start on Tuesday against the Cardinals in place of the injured Ervin Santana (thumb). Santana is expected to miss just one start with a bruised thumb, so Floyd will head to the bullpen after the spot start. The veteran right-hander was activated from the disabled list on Sunday after posting a 4.12 ERA over six starts during his rehab assignment.

Braves activated RHP Gavin Floyd from the 15-day disabled list. Floyd has completed his rehab from Tommy John surgery, holding a 4.12 ERA over six starts during his rehab assignment. There's currently no room for him in the rotation, so the Braves will use him in long relief for now.

The Braves plan to activate Gavif Floyd (elbow) from the disabled list on Sunday. It remains unclear however, what his role will be upon returning to the team. With all five of their starting pitchers in the rotation throwing the ball well, Floyd could be used as a long reliever out of the bullpen until a need arises. His fantasy value will be minimal until he's getting the ball every fifth day.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) is expected to be activated by the Braves over the weekend. Floyd has exhausted his 30-day rehabilitation period, so he'll need to be activated by Sunday unless he gets further injured. He'll throw a bullpen session on Friday, and if feels good he'll be activated. "When he's ready to go, we'll put him in here some place," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Plug him in." With a full rotation, that place may be the bullpen for the time being.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) could be making his final rehab start on Tuesday night at Triple-A Gwinnett. The Braves don't have another rehab start for him scheduled, but that could change if the outing goes poorly. Floyd, who's on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, has allowed 12 runs -- 10 earned -- over 19 innings so far in the minor leagues.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Gavin Floyd (elbow) will make at least two more rehab starts. Floyd has allowed 10 runs -- eight earned -- in 13 2/3 rehab innings so far, and the Braves want him to continue to work out the kinks against a lower level of competition. He is on his way back from Tommy John surgery.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) was much better his last time out, allowing one run on four hits over four innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. Floyd took a step forward in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, reaching 60 pitches without issue. He'll attempt to reach 75 pitches in his Sunday start with Double-A Mississippi. Floyd is on track to return the first or second week of May.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) lasted just 1 1/3 innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk. He didn't record any strikeouts. The Braves were hoping Floyd could make it through three frames, but he had to be removed earlier than that as he approached his pitch limit. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Floyd hopes to join the Braves' rotation in early May.
