Gattis went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis extended Houston's lead to two runs in the sixth inning when he singled home Josh Reddick. The Angels were playing the percentages in the sixth and brought in right-handed reliever Blake Parker to face Gattis, who had been 4-for-17 (.235) against righties prior to coming through with his fifth RBI of the season.

Gattis will catch and bat sixth in Friday's game against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis will be behind the plate for the second time this season, this time catching for veteran right-hander Mike Fiers. His appearance in the lineup likely has to do in part with the fact that the Astros are facing a lefty in Jason Vargas. Gattis is 2-for-7 at the plate so far this season to go along with one extra-base hit.

Gattis is hitting seventh in Tuesday's lineup as the Astros' designated hitter, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros opted to give Norichika Aoki an off-day Tuesday, which moved regular DH Carlos Beltran into the playing field. This allows Gattis to garner his first start of the season, where he'll be tasked with facing Seattle right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma.

Gattis is out of the lineup Monday against the Mariners, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Astros bringing in Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann in the offseason, it appears Gattis won't have a direct route to everyday at-bats at either DH or catcher when the team is at full strength. However, since McCann and Beltran are both likely to require a couple days off per week, Gattis should still find a way into the lineup at least semi-regularly, which might be enough for him to make him a viable option in most leagues. He's slugged a combined 59 homers in his two seasons with the Astros, power numbers that are unmatched by any other catcher-eligible player.

Gattis made his first spring start as a catcher in Friday's game against the Mets, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis, who had battled a sore right shoulder, had served as a designated hitter during his six spring appearances before Friday's game. He was hoping to test out his arm, but the Mets did not attempt to steal a base during the four innings that Gattis was in the game. He'll get more action behind the dish as spring progresses, so we'll get a chance to see how the shoulder responds when he throws with aggression.

Gattis will play "maybe a touch more than a traditional backup [catcher] but will get plenty of time" behind Brian McCann, according to manager A.J. Hinch, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports. "I think what can change that is how the DH plays," Hinch said. "Obviously the performances will change. But McCann will catch a majority of the games, Gattis will catch the balance of them and then as the schedule permits and the health permits, then we'll adjust accordingly."
EDGE Analysis
Gattis continues to work on his receiving and blocking skills. The designated hitter spot also will impact Gattis' reps: Carlos Beltran may contribute a few games in the outfield, perhaps in place of lefty bats Josh Reddick and Norichika Aoki against a southpaw, which would allow Gattis to man DH. His power ranks among the best for catcher-eligible fantasy players. Even as a backup, the veteran could launch 25-plus bombs in a limited role. Fantasy owners in mixed leagues should avoid paying an exorbitant price for what could wind up as three starts per week, but of course, competitors who use two-catcher lineups would jump at adding him in the middle rounds.

Gattis (shoulder) is expected to catch in a Grapefruit League game Friday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis has been limited to DH duties in games to this point in spring training while he's battled a sore right shoulder, which had made throwing an issue. It appears he's progressed well in his throwing program in recent days, and if workouts throughout the week continue to go well, we should see him behind the plate by the weekend. After bringing in Brian McCann in the offseason, Gattis isn't expected to see regular time behind the plate in 2017, but he should still retain eligibility at the position across most fantasy formats after logging 55 starts at catcher last season.

Gattis has increased his throwing program and is tentatively targeted for game-action behind the plate mid-to-late next week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis been able to serve as Houston's designated hitter in spring games, but unable to play the field yet. This confirms why he didn't fill in for Brian McCann, who missed the last couple of days due to illness.

Gattis (shoulder) will man the DH spot and bat in the cleanup spot in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right shoulder a little over a week ago and has been limited in workouts lately, but it appears the worst of the injury is behind him. It remains to be seen when the Astros will use him behind the plate in a game, but the fact that he's serving as the DH on Sunday suggests that the issue is probably nothing to worry about.

Gattis (shoulder) got in some light throwing Sunday morning, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis' progress from his shoulder soreness is certainly a good sign, as it has prevented him from participating in baseball activities early in camp. There's still plenty of time for him to get caught up before the start of the regular season. When healthy, the 30-year-old slugger figures to see time as both the backup catcher behind Brian McCann and as the designated hitter, where Carlos Beltran also figures into the mix.
