Washington kept trotting Fedde out there despite his struggles -- he had the second-worst ERA (5.81) among pitchers who threw at least 120 innings in the majors last season, trailing only teammate Patrick Corbin. Fedde will likely have to scratch and claw for a roster spot somewhere in spring training.

Fedde (6-13) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing nine runs on nine hits and two walks over 2.1 innings while striking out one.

It was a short and disastrous afternoon for Fedde in the season finale, as he allowed three runs in all three frames in which he appeared. The nine runs allowed were a season high for the right-hander after he had not allowed more than four runs in any start since Aug 30. Fedde (6-11) took the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk over 5.2 innings against the Marlins. He struck out four.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old has pitched five innings or more in just four of those starts.

Fedde did not factor into the decision against Miami on Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking none over four innings.

Fedde tossed 56 of 87 pitches for strikes in Saturday's contest, giving up three runs across four frames thanks to an RBI single and a two-run homer. This was the second game in a row where Fedde was pulled before the fifth inning. He has only completed the sixth inning five times all year. In his last 21.2 innings, the righty has allowed 16 earned runs, giving him a 6.79 ERA since Aug. 23. He has a 5.29 ERA on the season.

Fedde (6-10) took the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks over 3.2 innings against the Phillies. He struck out one.

Fedde allowed a two-run homer to outfielder Bryce Harper to tie the game with two outs in the third, and he later allowed an RBI double by Brandon Marsh. The righty has been dreadful in his last seven starts, turning in a 7.71 ERA and 1.95 WHIP over 30.1 innings. In addition, the 29-year-old has pitched five innings or more just three times during that span.

Fedde (6-9) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings against the Mets. He struck out two.

EDGE Analysis

The only damage on the afternoon came in the second inning after Fedde allowed a walk, a single and a sacrifice fly to start the inning. Otherwise, he was very effective, holding the Mets to just five baserunners on his way to his fifth quality start and sixth win on the season. The effort lowered his ERA to 5.08, and he will look to keep the momentum going in his next start, which will likely come next weekend at Philadelphia.
