Fedde looked dominant for most of Friday's start, allowing just two hits and two walks through five shutout frames. He then served up a two-run homer to Rowdy Tellez in the sixth to break the scoreless tie and eventually be handed a tough-luck loss. He's registered a 2.73 ERA over his last five starts, lowering his season number to 4.08. Fedde is projected to face the Dodgers at home next week.

Fedde was effectively wild on Sunday, throwing only 53 of 97 pitches for strikes but holding the Angels scoreless. He has allowed two runs or less in five of his six starts and has allowed only one run over his last 12 innings. With a 3.90 ERA, he is putting up the best numbers of his career. However, there are reasons for concern, most notably a 1.43 WHIP and walking 4.5 batters per nine innings.

The right-hander was able to keep Colorado's bats in check even at Coors Field, as Fedde gave up only one extra-base hit during his longest outing of the season so far -- a seventh-inning double by Sam Hilliard. The quality start was Fedde's first of 2022, and he'll carry a 4.68 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB through 25 innings into his next appearance.

Fedde (1-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Nationals were routed 11-2 by the Diamondbacks, coughing up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

EDGE Analysis

The Arizona offense was overdue for some positive regression, and Fedde found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as the Diamondbacks erupted. The right-hander tossed 55 of 80 pitches for strikes before getting the hook after allowing three straight hits in the fourth inning, including a two-run shot by Daulton Varsho. Fedde still has a strong 14:5 K:BB through 13.1 innings over his first three starts, but his 6.75 ERA and 1.65 WHIP make him a risky fantasy option.

Fedde (1-0) collected the win Friday in a 7-2 victory over the Pirates, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander needed 96 pitches (59 strikes) to get through the minimum five frames to qualify for a win, but that was about the only suspense on a night the Nationals never trailed. Fedde has had a solid start to the season, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through his first 10 innings, and he gets another favorable matchup in his next scheduled start Tuesday, at home against the Diamondbacks.

EDGE Analysis

Fedde served up a homer to Francisco Lindor in the fourth and allowed an RBI single to Mark Canha later in that same frame, but the right-hander kept New York off the board in his other four innings of work. He racked up five strikeouts on the strength of 12 swinging strikes. Fedde is in line for a favorable road matchup in Pittsburgh next week, but remember this is a pitcher with a career WHIP pushing 1.50.

Fedde (oblique) is scheduled to start Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

Fedde will take the hill for the Nationals' exhibition finale after he experienced no renewed soreness with his right oblique coming out of Sunday's bullpen session. The right-hander has made only two Grapefruit League starts to date and topped out at 2.2 innings in his most recent outing March 26, so the Nationals will likely have him stretch out a little longer Tuesday for his final tuneup in advance of Opening Day. If all goes well, Fedde could get the ball five days later in the finale of the Nationals' season-opening series with the Mets in Washington.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez said that Fedde (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

EDGE Analysis

If all goes well during Sunday's throwing session, Fedde will get the green light to start Tuesday's exhibition finale against the Mets, which would clear the way for the right-hander to avoid the injured list and break camp as a member of Washington's rotation. Fedde hasn't made a Grapefruit League appearance since March 26 due to a sore right oblique.
