Fedde (0-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Nationals fell 3-1 to the Mets, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over three innings of relief. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was needed out of the 'pen once Max Scherzer (hamstring) left the game after the first inning, and while Fedde wasn't sharp -- he threw only 28 of 58 pitches for strikes -- he was able to limit the damage against him. His next turn in the rotation was originally scheduled for Sunday, but given his workload here he's almost certain to be bumped. Patrick Corbin will likely move up a day to take that start instead, but Fedde could slot back in for Monday's road game against the Mets on a normal four days rest.

Fedde allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out none across 3.1 innings Thursday against the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde wasn't particularly sharp, allowing multiple baserunners in three of the four innings he pitched. However, he did keep the Nationals competitive in the game, and he exited the game with a 4-2 lead. While Fedde now has a 3.68 ERA across 7.1 total innings this season, his 3:3 K:BB ratio is much less inspiring. Fedde may not make another start for a quite a while, given that the team will not be in action this weekend and that Stephen Strasburg (hand) continues to work his way back into the rotation.

Fedde will make another start Thursday against the Blue Jays, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde was a last-minute fill-in for Stephen Strasburg against the Yankees on Saturday and performed competently enough, allowing two runs (one earned) in four innings. He'll get at least one more turn in the rotation with Strasburg still battling a hand issue, but Strasburg has a chance to be cleared for his next start if his bullpen session Wednesday goes well.

Fedde was charged with two runs (one earned) on four hits over four innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday. He struck out three and issued one walk.
EDGE Analysis
This was an impressive showing considering it was a last-minute assignment and he was facing the Yankees. Fedde was starting in place of Stephen Strasburg (hand). Strasburg said that he does not expect to be out "too long," but Fedde will likely eat the bulk of the innings on Strasburg's day in the meantime. If Strasburg can't go next week, Fedde would get the ball in a road matchup against the Blue Jays.

Fedde will start Saturday against the Yankees, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde will start on short notice for the team's second game of the season after Stephen Strasburg was scratched from his start with a nerve issue in his right hand. Fedde drew praise during camp about his performance as he competed for the No. 5 starter role. The right-hander recorded a 4.50 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 21 appearances (12 starts) last season.

Manager Dave Martinez said Fedde will pitch out of the bullpen, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Austin Voth will serve as the team's fifth starter while Fedde provides length out of the bullpen. Fedde made nine appearances out of the bullpen in 2019, compiling a 4.58 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB across 17.2 innings.

Fedde pitched in a simulated game Friday and drew praise from manager Dave Martinez, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander "threw the ball really well" according to Martinez, although it's not clear how much work Fedde got in. The 27-year-old got a delayed start to summer camp due to a case of pink eye, which is at least better than a positive COVID-19 test, and he appears to be fully recovered now. Fedde is competing with Austin Voth for the No. 5 starter spot to begin the season, but both pitchers should have significant roles on the staff during the shortened season regardless of who wins the battle.

Fedde will compete with Austin Voth during summer camp for the opening in the rotation created when Joe Ross opted not to play in 2020, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde, who still has an option remaining, had been sent to Triple-A Fresno just before spring training was put on pause, but he'll get another chance to claim a rotation spot. The right-hander hasn't had much success in the majors so far, posting a 5.39 ERA through 143.2 innings over the last three seasons, but he did sport a solid 2.45 ERA and 7:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings this spring.

Fedde was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Fedde heading to the minors, it appears either Joe Ross or Austin Voth will open the season as Washington's fifth starter, with the other likely filling a long-relief role. That said, if the regular-season schedule ends up featuring fewer off days and more doubleheaders, the 27-year-old Fedde could be needed with the big club sooner than later.

Fedde remains in the mix to win the No. 5 starter role when the regular season finally begins.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander put together a solid spring with a 2.45 ERA, 12.3 WHIP and 7:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings, but Fedde is arguably at the back of the pack in the race for the job. Joe Ross, who was considered the favorite coming into camp, posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 7.1 innings -- albeit with a shakier 3:4 K:BB -- while Austin Voth rang up a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB in seven frames. If the regular-season schedule ends up featuring fewer off days and more doubleheaders, however, all three pitchers could end up seeing significant workloads for the Nats, either in the rotation or in long relief.
