Fedde will compete with Austin Voth during summer camp for the opening in the rotation created when Joe Ross opted not to play in 2020, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde, who still has an option remaining, had been sent to Triple-A Fresno just before spring training was put on pause, but he'll get another chance to claim a rotation spot. The right-hander hasn't had much success in the majors so far, posting a 5.39 ERA through 143.2 innings over the last three seasons, but he did sport a solid 2.45 ERA and 7:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings this spring.

Fedde was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Fedde heading to the minors, it appears either Joe Ross or Austin Voth will open the season as Washington's fifth starter, with the other likely filling a long-relief role. That said, if the regular-season schedule ends up featuring fewer off days and more doubleheaders, the 27-year-old Fedde could be needed with the big club sooner than later.

Fedde remains in the mix to win the No. 5 starter role when the regular season finally begins.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander put together a solid spring with a 2.45 ERA, 12.3 WHIP and 7:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings, but Fedde is arguably at the back of the pack in the race for the job. Joe Ross, who was considered the favorite coming into camp, posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 7.1 innings -- albeit with a shakier 3:4 K:BB -- while Austin Voth rang up a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB in seven frames. If the regular-season schedule ends up featuring fewer off days and more doubleheaders, however, all three pitchers could end up seeing significant workloads for the Nats, either in the rotation or in long relief.

Fedde allowed two hits and two walks over 3.1 scoreless innings while striking out three in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old kept himself firmly in the hunt for the Nats' No. 5 starter job with the solid outing. Fedde has posted a 2.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 7:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings this spring, but he might need Joe Ross to falter over the next couple weeks to win the open spot in the team's rotation.

Fedde allowed one unearned run on one hit and two walks while striking out two across 1.1 innings Sunday against the Marlins, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde was scheduled to pitch two innings, but he was unable to reach that mark after needing 34 pitchers to retire four batters. He was pulled with the bases loaded after allowing a single and walking two in the second frame. Fedde is in competition this spring with Austin Voth and Joe Ross for the final spot in the team's rotation.

Fedde will be available out of the bullpen with Joe Ross (leg) remaining on schedule to start Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ross was questionable for Saturday's start after taking a comebacker off his leg during his previous outing, but he's been given the all clear. Fedde was the backup option if Ross proved to be unavailable, but he'll now work as a reliever. Fedde has a 4.31 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 38:29 K:BB over 71 innings this season.

Fedde will lose his rotation spot unless Joe Ross (leg) is unable to start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
We knew either Ross or Fedde would lose a rotation spot with Max Scherzer returning Thursday, and Fedde has lost that spot for now. However, with Ross questionable for his next start after getting hit by a comebacker Monday, Fedde has been told to prepare for that start in case Ross can't go.

Fedde (4-2) gave up four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two through five innings to take the win against the Brewers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Given an early 13-run lead, Fedde allowed plenty of baserunners, but he managed to work his way out of trouble to get through five innings with the huge lead intact. Fedde has wins in each of his last three starts. The 26-year-old has a 4.31 ERA and a 38:29 K:BB through 12 starts this season. Max Scherzer is currently scheduled to return this week, so there is a chance that Fedde could be bumped from the rotation.

Fedde is scheduled to start Sunday against the Brewers, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was speculated that Max Scherzer (back) could have been ready to return during the weekend series against the Brewers, but that does not appear to be the case unless Scherzer's health improves ahead of the weekend. Once Scherzer is ready to return, it's unclear whether Fedde or Joe Ross will be bumped from the rotation, but Fedde will probably receive at least one more start.

Fedde (3-2) gave up two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four through six innings to take the win against the Reds on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Fedde allowed a leadoff home run in the first inning and another run in the second, but threw four scoreless innings afterwards. Three of the last five outings for Fedde have been quality starts. Fedde has a 4.09 ERA through 16 appearances this season. Fedde will make his next start Monday against the Reds at Nationals Park.
