The Orioles plan to purchase Jackson's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson inked a minor-league contract with Baltimore in April that included a June 1 opt-out clause, which he agreed to extend a week as the Orioles weighed bringing him onto the 40-man roster. After deliberating about it, the Orioles plan to give Jackson a look in the big-league bullpen after the 33-year-old delivered a 3.10 ERA to go with 17 strikeouts in 20.1 innings at Norfolk. It's expected that Jackson will work in a multi-inning mop-up role out of the bullpen, though he could eventually get a look as a fifth starter given the instability of the Orioles' rotation. When the well-traveled Jackson makes his debut with the Orioles, it will be the 12th different MLB team that he's played for, putting him one shy of the all-time record set by former journeyman reliever Octavio Dotel.

Jackson remains unsure if he'll opt out of his minor-league contract, Steve Earley of The Virginian-Pilot reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 14-year major-league veteran isn't likely to hang around the minors much longer. However, Jackson's obviously holding out hope based on the fact he bypassed the June 1 opt-out date without making a decision. "Who knows? We'll see," Jackson said. "But as of right now, I'm just continuing on with my day as a normal day and getting my work done." The Orioles' big-league rotation hasn't been great, so the club has no reason to shun the right-hander. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him get a do-or-die run with the MLB team in the near future.

Jackson is close to being an option for the Orioles but needs a little more time at Triple-A, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has made six appearances with Norfolk, but the last five have come out of the bullpen, hinting at his future role on the big-league club. Jackson has a 2.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 9:6 K:BB in nine innings at Triple-A, and should serve in a low-leverage role once his contract is purchased.

Jackson could be ready to join the major league club after just two more minor league appearances, Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson has been sharp in a pair of short appearances for Norfolk, allowing just a run on three hits over 4.2 combined innings. The veteran needs to continue to stretch his arm out for a starting role, but considering the lack of depth in Baltimore's starting rotation, if he continues to show that kind of sharpness, he'll be an intriguing option for Buck Martinez going forward. Jackson hasn't been even an average starting pitcher since the 2012 season with the Nationals, when he posted a 4.03 ERA with 168 strikeouts over 189.2 innings, but he very well might serve as an upgrade over Ubaldo Jimenez, who owns a 6.15 ERA through 33.2 innings this season.

Jackson will make his debut with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday as the team's starting pitcher, David Hall of The Virginian-Pilot reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran hurler began the year at extended spring training, but the Orioles liked what they saw enough to slot him into a crowded rotation for the Tides. If all goes well, the Orioles haven't ruled out using Jackson as a starter in the big leagues, but he'll need to show some improvement over the 5.89 ERA he held last season in major-league stints with the Padres and Marlins.

Jackson, who signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on April 5, is getting close to joining a minor league affiliate after beginning his season at extended spring training., Eduardo Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Orioles skipper Buck Showalter said the veteran is "pitching well" down in Sarasota. The manager even said that he expect Jackson will "present himself as an option" for the big-league club in the near future. Jackson is expected join a crowded staff at Triple-A Norfolk, but it's still unclear whether he would be used as a starter or reliever.

Jackson has reportedly agreed to a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Wednesday pending a physical, Eduardo Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson is scheduled to report to Sarasota where he will initially stay and work out in extended spring training. The 33-year-old is looking to rebound from a rough 2016, where he struggled to a 5.89 ERA and 61:41 K:BB over 84.0 innings between the Padres and Marlins. He'll likely offer pitching depth for the Orioles in 2017.

Jackson threw a bullpen session with the Rangers on Wednesday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a member of both the Padres and Marlins organizations in 2016, Jackson spent time both as a starter and as a reliever. He didn't see much success in either role, as his ERA sat just below 6.00 with both clubs, but the veteran could offer pitching depth for Texas if they reach an agreement on a minor league contract.

Jackson (5-7) struck out five but he tossed up a pair of bombs and yielded five runs in five innings and took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He truly had some incredible performances down the stretch, throwing seven shutout frames in Pittsburgh and then striking out 11 over seven scoreless innings against Boston, but that was usually cancelled out with some absolutely horrible outings like Friday's. Jackson actually was able to induce 17 swing-and-misses against Arizona, but the two homers, including the eventual game-winner in the sixth, cost him. He yielded five home runs in his final 16.1 innings this season. Jackson finishes the year with a 5.89 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 61 strikeouts versus 41 walks in 84.0 innings.

Jackson (5-6) was the winning pitcher in Friday's 7-2 win over the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits while walking five and striking out five over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Edwin "Suitcase" Jackson and the Padres maintained a lead for the entirety of the contest, and while the 33-year-old gave the Giants some life with a two-run fifth, the Padres offense picked up Jackson by quickly adding four runs in the bottom of the same inning to give the journeyman right-hander his second win in his last seven starts, and his second win against San Francisco since being acquired by the Padres in July.
