Jackson has been officially recalled to make Sunday's start against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson didn't fare particularly well at Triple-A El Paso, allowing 10 earned runs over 12.2 innings in three starts with the affiliate, but the Padres are in desperate need of another starter. The 32-year-old will give it a go Sunday against a strong Giants lineup, but there's nothing to suggest he will pitch well enough to gain fantasy relevance moving forward.

Jackson will be called up to start Sunday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Andy Green made it official, tabbing Edwin Jackson as the temporary replacement for Drew Pomeranz in the San Diego rotation. Paul Clemens is expected to join the rotation eventually but apparently the Padres don't think he's ready quite yet. Jackson has struggled in a starting role in the minors this season (7.11 ERA, 9:6 K:BB at Triple-A), and he had an ERA well north of 6.00 as a starter at the major league level in 2014. The Giants figure to a popular stack for those playing in daily games.

Padres GM A.J. Preller cited Jackson and Paul Clemens as options for their rotation following the Drew Pomeranz trade.
EDGE Analysis
That rotation vacancy could get first filled as early as Sunday. Jackson doesn't inspire much confidence, even if he lands in Petco. Since signing with the Padres, he's started three games at Triple-A El Paso, posting a 7.11 ERA over 12.2 innings.

Jackson was signed by the Padres on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson was granted his unconditional release by the Marlins on June 6 after appearing in eight games for the club. During 10.2 innings of work in 2016, he gave up seven earned runs and 13 hits while striking out seven and allowing opposing batters to hit .317 off him. Jackson will provide organizational depth for the Padres but will need to regain his form in order to be a useful acquisition at the major league level.

Jackson was granted his unconditional release Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran was DFA'd earlier in the week, and he'll now try his luck as a free agent, rather than accepting an assignment to Triple-A. Jackson appeared in eight games for the Marlins out of the bullpen, scattering 13 hits ans seven earned runs across 10.2 cumulative innings.

Jackson was designated for assignment Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson's move was the result of Mike Dunn returning from the disabled list Tuesday. If Jackson passes through waivers unclaimed, he will likely end up at Triple-A New Orleans. While he was a member of the Marlins this season, Jackson posted a 5.91 ERA during 10.2 innings out of the bullpen.

Jackson has thrown three scoreless innings since returning from the disabled list on May 20.
EDGE Analysis
After some years of being a middling starter, Jackson has come to his own this season as a reliever for the Marlins. The 32-year-old holds a 1.35 ERA through 6.2 innings pitched, although his 1.65 WHIP leaves something to be desired. Positives aside, it seems he's getting fairly lucky, as his 4.10 FIP would suggest. Jackson likely won't be able to keep this strong start up, so enjoy it while it lasts.

The Marlins are expected to activate Jackson (triceps) from the disabled list Friday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. "We feel like he's probably ready now," manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson has made his second rehab appearance Wednesday with High-A Jupiter, and has given up three runs on five hits and a walk over four innings during his brief stint with the club. While those results aren't especially encouraging, Jackson apparently hasn't experienced any notable setbacks in his recovery, so the Marlins may be willing to overlook his uninspiring rehab appearances. Jackson is expected to serve in long relief upon joining the Marlins.

Jackson was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday with a right triceps strain, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson was off to a solid start before suffering the injury, posting a 2.45 ERA in four appearances out of the bullpen. He will likely spend some time rehabbing the injury in the minor leagues before returning to the Marlins.

Jackson tossed a pair of scoreless inning in relief during Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
He struck out two without allowing a baserunner while needing just 10 pitches (all strikes) to get through the two innings. Jackson continues to appear in spring games every fifth day, but he has yet to start a game or toss more than three innings, and the 10-pitch outing Tuesday would seem to indicate that he's headed towards a bullpen role when the team breaks camp. Adam Conley and Jared Cosart remain in the lead to capture the Marlins' final two rotation spots.
