Jackson tossed three scoreless innings Thursday against the Mets, allowing one hit and a pair of walks. Despite the successful appearance, his role for the regular season remains uncertain, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson has made just two official Grapefruit League appearances, one scoreless outing and one five-run disaster. He's been working regularly with the Marlins' coaching staff on the back fields, however, and the team has been happy with the work he's putting in out of the spotlight. Jackson is competing for one of the final two spots in Miami's Opening Day rotation, but would be a favorite to land a spot in the bullpen if he fails to break camp as a starter.

Jackson will enter camp as a favorite to land one of the final two spots in Miami's rotation, the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite pitching exclusively out of the bullpen in 2015 (3.07 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with Atlanta and Chicago) , the Marlins plan on giving the veteran right-hander a chance to work his way into the rotation during spring training. He'll be competing with veterans Jarred Cosart, David Phelps and Brad Hand as well as youngsters Adam Conley and Justin Nicolino for the chance to start every fifth day. Jackson, Hand and Phelps all have experience working in relief should they fail to crack the starting five.

Jackson signed with the Marlins on Saturday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander will join the Marlins on a bargain deal worth $507.5K according to Heyman. Jackson spent last season with the Cubs and Braves serving in a relief role and compiling a 3.07 ERA over 55.2 innings of work.

Jackson (3-3) earned the victory on Saturday, completing one inning of hitless relief and striking out a batter in a 2-1 victory over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson turned in his second consecutive scoreless effort after surrendering runs in three consecutive appearances prior. He also faced the minimum number of batters for the second outing in September, and posted a strikeout for the third consecutive contest. The veteran reliever has turned in generally solid work overall for both the Cubs and Braves in 2015, and his current 1.24 WHIP metric is a nice improvement from his career 1.45 figure in that category.

Jackson appears likely to start Wednesday against the Marlins, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves have not yet listed a probable starter for Wednesday, but the other leading candidate, Sugar Ray Marimon, came into Tuesday's game to replace Manny Banuelos. Jackson hasn't made a start this season, and hasn't thrown more than 29 pitches in an appearance with Atlanta, so he likely wouldn't be available for more than a few innings if he does indeed get the nod.

Jackson imploded Monday, allowing four runs in one relief inning. Jackson has been mostly effective out of the bullpen for the Cubs, allowing just two earned runs since May 9 before his bad outing Monday. Jackson owns a 3.30 ERA through 30 innings of relief this season.

Jackson pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Kyle Hendricks on Friday. After years of disappointing results, Jackson may have finally found his niche, though he's only pitching a couple of times a week. In the last month he's made just nine appearances, covering 14.1 innings. In that span he has a 1.26 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 10:4 K:BB ratio.

Jackson earned the win Friday with a scoreless inning against the Pirates. Though he walked two in the appearance, it was certainly better than Jackson's last two times on the mound. In four appearances in May, covering 3.2 innings, he's given up five hits, six runs, and has walked four. That's the Edwin Jackson we know and love.

Jackson was unable to retire any of the three batters he faced Thursday, giving up two hits, a walk, and an unearned run. Jackson came into Thursday's game practically perfect in 2015, as both the run and walk were his first of the year. That said, we're talking about arguably the worst starter in the National League last year, so don't expect the transition to the bullpen to go smoothly.

Jackson made his first appearance of the season Friday, pitching two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Jackson had started 247 games since 2007, but this was just his fifth relief appearance during that span. He struck out two and gave up just one hit. He's likely to stay in the bullpen unless injuries strike the Cubs' rotation.
