Fowler is out of Saturday's lineup against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
He is hitting .179/.243/.313 with two home runs and one steal while striking out 27 percent of the time through 67 at-bats. Jose Martinez will get the start in left field and push Randal Grichuk to center field.

Fowler went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs during Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler provided all the offense needed for the Cards on Wednesday, and the home runs were his first two of the season and also stand as his first two RBI. It's been a discouraging start for the center fielder, as he sports a .183/.258/.333 slash line. However, he's scored 10 runs and stole a base, so he's still been chipping in rotisserie juice. Considering the multi-category value Fowler has provided in the past, and his tight grasp on the leadoff gig, Wednesday's breakout showing could prove to be a sign of things to come.

Fowler went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and a run in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't exactly a breakout game for the veteran outfielder, but by Fowler's standards this season, it essentially qualified as such. His first-inning three-bagger to right field was only his second extra-base hit of the season. Tuesday also marked only the third time all season that Fowler has been one base more than once, and despite the solid outing Tuesday, he's just 2-for-21 over the last five games.

Fowler went 0-for-4 in Monday's 2-1 victory over the Pirates, lowering his average to .132. He's now 1-for-18 over his last four games.
EDGE Analysis
Neither Fowler nor the Cardinals could have possibly seen the extent of his early-season struggles coming, considering he slashed .349/.453/.605 with two doubles, three triples, one home run, seven RBI, nine walks and 12 runs over 52 spring plate appearances. However, Fowler's OBP (.207) and slugging percentage (.151) are currently the lowest of any of his eight full major league seasons prior to 2017, while his strikeout rate (27.6 percent) and walk rate (6.9 percent), also career-worst figures, tell the tale of a veteran hitter who's uncharacteristically pressing with a new team. That trend was exemplified again Monday by the fact that Fowler saw all of nine pitches over four at-bats. Nevertheless, manager Mike Matheny is likely to continue exercising patience with the prize offseason acquisition given his well-established track record, although the leash could get shorter if the Cardinals offense continues struggling as a whole.

Fowler went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Jake Arrieta and three relievers made relatively quick work of the Cardinals on Tuesday and Fowler was their most prolific strikeout victim. He's gotten off to a quiet start in 2017 against his former club, going 2-for-8 with a walk and run over the first two games.

Fowler went 1-for-4 with a walk and run in Sunday's 4-3 Opening Day win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler was effective in his Cardinals debut and opened the scoring on the night when he came home on a Matt Carpenter sacrifice fly in the third inning. The veteran outfielder is coming off a torrid spring during which he hit .349 with two doubles, three triples, a home run, seven RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Fowler will be relied on to set the table for the likes of Aledmys Diaz and Matt Carpenter in the coming season while also providing double-digit homer potential out of the top of the order.

Fowler (illness) went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run in Wednesday's spring league game.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler was back on the field for the Cardinals on Wednesday after missing the previous two games with an illness. The 31-year-old didn't miss a beat in his return, collecting another hit and bringing his average to .357 (10-for-28) through 14 games this spring.

Fowler (illness) was a late scratch from Monday's lineup, Ben Fredrickson of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals' leadoff man reported to the clubhouse Monday afternoon with the intention of traveling with the team and starting later that night. However, he wasn't feeling well and did not board the team bus. Harrison Bader replaced him in the outfield Monday night, and with the team off Tuesday, the hope is Fowler will be ready to go by Wednesday afternoon's home game against the Nationals.

Fowler went 2-for-2 with two runs in Wednesday's 9-3 Grapefruit League win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler looks like one of the offseason's best investments, as he's already proven to be a dynamic table-setter in the leadoff role he'll occupy during the regular season. Wednesday's production brought the veteran outfielder's spring line to .462/.619/.538 with one double, three RBI, seven walks and a pair of stolen bases. The pace of his success at the plate is naturally unsustainable, especially considering Fowler has hit .300 only once over eight-plus major league seasons. However, one missing element from his otherwise stellar spring thus far that does figure to come around in time is the long ball. Although rightfully renowned for his speed, the 30-year-old has demonstrated solid pop over the years as well, smacking double-digit home runs in his two Cubs seasons and in four of the last five campaigns overall.

Fowler drew a pair of walks, scored twice and stole a base in Saturday's 8-7 Grapefruit League victory over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
You could hardly have drawn up Fowler's debut as the new Cardinals leadoff man any better, as both of his at-bats had a positive impact on the scoreboard. He draw a five-pitch free pass in the first, promptly swiped second, and then eventually came around to score on Matt Carpenter's sacrifice fly. Following his second walk, Fowler came home again courtesy of Carpenter on the latter's third-inning two-run blast. Even though he only took two swings overall, Fowler was nevertheless very satisfied with his debut. "The way we manufactured that run in the first inning was key. If we can do that we'll win a lot of games."
