Fowler is not in the lineup against San Diego on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
With left-hander Eric Lauer taking the hill, Fowler will receive a standard day off and head to the bench for the first time this month. In his place, Harrison Bader will start in right field and bat second.

Fowler went 1-for-6 with a game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the 14th against the Cubs on Sunday. He also walked once.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler may not be collecting many hits thus far this season, but he's displayed a penchant for delivering in timely fashion on the rare occasions he has success. The veteran outfielder launched a 351-foot rope to right that just cleared the fence with Harrison Bader aboard, giving the Cardinals the rather unlikely win after the Cubs' Javier Baez had afforded his squad the lead in the top half of the frame with a solo shot. Fowler had also provided a game-winning single in extras against the Mets on April 26, and he's compiled a solid 16 RBI overall. However, his line remains a forgettable .161/.278/.321, with an absurd .160 BABIP certainly playing a prominent role in his struggles.

Fowler went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler was riding a 1-for-23 stretch before the two-run shot, seeing his average drop to .170 in the process. Even if it ends up being a down year for the 32-year-old, it seems unlikely that his average would remain below the Mendoza Line for much longer. Fowler seems to be suffering from some terrible luck, as he currently has an unsustainably low .183 BABIP versus a .335 mark for his career.

Fowler (wrist) is starting in right field and hitting sixth Tuesday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Fowler is back in action after missing Sunday's game with a minor wrist ailment. The 32-year-old, who is hitting just .170/.279/.298 through 24 games this season, will face James Shields in his return to the lineup.

Fowler's wrist is still scraped and swelling but he expects to play Tuesday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler hurt his wrist Saturday against the Pirates while diving into the stands chasing a foul ball. He sat out Sunday but doesn't expect to miss another game, though the Cardinals could still elect to be cautious and sit him for another day or two.

Fowler, who sat out Sunday's series finale against the Pirates, is dealing with a sore left wrist stemming from a dive into the stands while chasing a foul ball in Saturday's game, Bob Cohn of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals have an off day Monday, so he'll have some down time before the start of a two-game set against the White Sox on Tuesday. Manager Mike Matheny remains unconcerned about any further absences on the part of Fowler, saying he expected his veteran outfielder to be sore following the incident and encouraged him to sit Sunday's game out.

Fowler is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler appeared to be breaking out of his early-season slumber after recording back-to-back multi-hit games against the Reds on April 12 and 13, but the offense has dried up ever since. He's managed just four hits in 38 at-bats since that time, dropping his season average to .170. Fowler's on-base and baserunning skills are probably enough to lock him into a regular role with the Cardinals, but he could begin ceding starts to Harrison Bader on a more frequent basis if he fails to provide more offense in the near future.

Fowler went 1-for-5 with a game-winning RBI single against the Mets on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder came through with a single to shallow right in the 13th, bringing home Jose Martinez with the winning run. Thursday's heroics aside, Fowler continues to scuffle mightily at the plate, with his average now having sat under .200 for seven straight contests, and for all but two of the 22 games he's suited up for thus far. However, there's some reason for optimism in his .206 BABIP, an unsustainably low figure that implies he's also been on the wrong side of variance an inordinate amount.

Fowler reached base five times, going 1-for-1 with four walks and a steal in Sunday's win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Though the one-hit day didn't do much for his average, which still sits below the Mendoza Line, it was a boon to his OBP and provided the opportunity for his second steal of the year. After getting bumped out of the leadoff spot before Saturday's game, Fowler has responded with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the two contests since, so the shakeup may be just what he needed to break out of the early season slump.

Fowler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler slid out of the leadoff spot for the first time all season Saturday, and he may have reaped the benefits of having Paul DeJong hitting directly behind him. Ultimately, both he and DeJong went deep back-to-back in the sixth, with Fowler's round tripper serving as his second in the last five games. The blast also snapped the 0-for-12 slump that had encompassed the outfielder's previous three games, although his average still remains an unsightly .181.
