Derek Jeter (calf) could rejoin the Yankees on Monday. Jeter is expected to remain on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre until Saturday before being reevaluated. Assuming he avoids setbacks, he should be activated for next week's series with the Blue Jays. Jeter has been sidelined since August 2 with a right calf strain, but is finally close to making his return.

Derek Jeter (calf) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Jeter, out since August 2 with a right calf strain, is slated to play five innings at shortstop in his return to action. The Yankees have yet to reveal a clear timetable for his return, but it's plausible he could be activated within the next few days if all goes well.

Derek Jeter (calf) is scheduled to play in another simulated game Tuesday. The major difference from Monday is that Jeter has been cleared to run the bases for the first time. He is clearly making progress, but the Yankees will not commit to a timetable for his return. The veteran shortstop has been sidelined since August 2 with a right calf strain.

Derek Jeter (calf) appeared in a simulated game Monday. It was his first game action since being placed on the disabled list earlier this month. Jeter has still yet to be cleared to run the bases, but showed "improved mobility" during infield drills. While he continues to make solid progress in his recovery from a strained right calf, there's no timetable for his return.

Derek Jeter (calf) has yet to run the bases since being placed on the disabled list. Jeter has done some jogging, as well as take batting practice and field grounders, but his biggest test is yet to come. Instead of going with the Yankees to Boston, he went to their spring training complex and will not be activated on Sunday, the first day he's eligible. Manager Joe Girardi indicated that Jeter also probably wouldn't be ready on Tuesday after the team's off day Monday. "I'm not sure," Girardi said. "He really hasn't run, and been running the bases. So we've got to see where he's at. So it's just day by day, and hopefully sooner than later."

Derek Jeter (calf) took batting practice Tuesday. It's the first time he's done so since landing on the disabled list. Jeter also took ground balls and did some light running on the field. Yankees manager Joe Girardi acknowledged on Sunday that the shortstop wasn't close to returning. "It's a day-to-day thing," Jeter said. "They told me I'm taking BP, so I'm taking BP. Tomorrow, I don't know. I know I'm going to Tampa on Thursday. That's all I know."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi acknowledged Sunday that Derek Jeter (calf) isn't close to returning. Jeter has been on the 15-day disabled list since August 3 with a right calf strain. He's appeared in just five games this season. "He'll continue to increase his work here," Girardi said. "I think at some point this week you'll start seeing him do my favorite, tee and toss."

Derek Jeter (calf) will begin a running program next week. Jeter is currently working his way back from a minor calf strain and expects to return when first eligible. Eduardo Nunez will continue to start at shortstop in his absence.

Yankees placed SS Derek Jeter on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 3, with a right calf strain. An MRI on Sunday revealed a mild strain in Jeter's calf, so he'll now get some extended rest. It's been a frustrating year for the 39-year-old shortstop, as he has been limited to just five games due to various injuries. Eduardo Nunez figures to see most of the playing time at shortstop during his absence.
