Dee Gordon is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Wednesday morning.
Gordon suffered the initial injury when he dove to tag Kelly Johnson during a rundown play on Saturday night, but he aggravated it during a swing on Tuesday. "It was way worse the first time," said Gordon. "I can say that for sure. That was more of a quick stinging action. I didn't feel it once on a swing until I took that swing. It just didn't feel right." While it's encouraging that his shoulder doesn't feel as bad as it did Saturday, it wouldn't be be surprising if the Dodgers place him on the disabled list.

Dee Gordon left Tuesday's game in the eighth inning after aggravating his right shoulder on a swing.
Gordon was forced to exit with an 0-2 count against Cliff Lee. He bunted foul on the first pitch of the at-bat and then tried a painful swing on the second. Since the injury seems to be lingering, it's possible Gordon will land on the DL this time, leaving Jamey Carroll as the Dodgers' primary shortstop.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he expects to see Dee Gordon back in the majors this season.
"He showed me he wants to be great," Mattingly said of Gordon. "That's the biggest thing." Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti added that "He has a real good feel for the game." If your bench is big enough, stash Gordon away instead of dropping him, as he could be a great source of steals later this season.

Dodgers optioned SS Dee Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Gordon was given a momentary stay after the latest Casey Blake injury, but he was at risk for losing playing time now that Rafael Furcal is back from the disabled list. The 23-year-old shortstop batted just .232/.250/.280 with a 16/2 K/BB ratio over his first 85 plate appearances in the big leagues, but did manage eight stolen bases in 11 attempts. He'll be back soon enough.
