Dee Gordon is expected to begin the season at Triple-A Albuquerque.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that "everybody is happy with the way Hanley (Ramirez) looks" at shortstop, which leaves Gordon without a starting role. It certainly possible that Ramirez will be moved to third at some point, but until that happens, the club feels Gordon is better off playing every day in the minors. "If it gets to that situation, you don't do a guy a whole lot of good sitting and watching games when he needs the experience of just playing," Mattingly said. "Young guys, you don't want them sitting on the bench. If that was the case, we'll do what's best for him and what's best for him in the long run."

The Los Angeles Times' Dylan Hernandez writes that the Dodgers "have talked about moving Dee Gordon to the outfield but appear inclined to keep him at shortstop for now."
"I hate to give up on him at short," manager Don Mattingly said. The Dodgers plan to use Hanley Ramirez at shortstop in 2013, meaning Gordon doesn't have a starting job and will likely begin the year at Triple-A Albuquerque. His name has also come up in trade rumors this offseason, but it appears the Dodgers will hang on to him for now.

USA Today's John Perrotto hears that the Pirates are targeting Dee Gordon and Jose Iglesias in the Joel Hanrahan trade talks.
The Pirates clearly aren't satisfied with the offense Clint Barmes gives them, but Gordon and Iglesias don't appear ready to provide much at the plate, either. Obviously they'd be gambling on potential upside while also hopefully finding a long-term solution at the position. It appears pretty likely at this point that Hanrahan will be traded, with Jason Grilli taking over as closer.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Indians, Mariners, Braves and Phillies have asked the Dodgers about Dee Gordon.
Despite the interest, the Dodgers have told the clubs that they're uninterested in trading Gordon right now. Gordon has stolen 56 bases over 143 games with the Dodgers but has batted just .260/.299/.315 with 23 extra-base hits (one home run). L.A. is obviously banking on him eventually cashing in on his upside.

The Indians are talking with the Dodgers about Dee Gordon, according to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.
A trade for Gordon is likely contingent on the Indians' ability to deal Asdrubal Cabrera. The 24-year-old Gordon has hit just .260/.299/.315 in 143 major league games, but he's among the fastest players in baseball.

CBS Sports' Scott Miller hears that the Mariners are "hitting the Dodgers hard" with trade inquiries on Dee Gordon.
The Dodgers aren't necessarily shopping Gordon, but they're listening, and Miller says they've fielded "tons of inquiries." Gordon possesses an ugly .260/.299/.315 batting line and has graded poorly defensively, but he's stolen 56 bases in his first 143 games and the Dodgers still love his upside. The Mariners' incumbent at shortstop is Brendan Ryan, who is a defensive wizard but might as well be holding a flyswatter at the plate.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers will only trade Dee Gordon for a significant return.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported early Monday that Gordon was on the block, but the Dodgers view him as a player with immense upside. The 24-year-old batted just .228/.280/.281 with a .561 OPS in 330 plate appearances with the Dodgers this past season, but he has swiped 56 bases over his first 143 games in the majors.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Dodgers are shopping young shortstop Dee Gordon.
Gordon had a promising rookie season in 2011, batting .304 with 24 stolen bases, but he failed to build on that success in 2012 and now the Dodgers have Hanley Ramirez in the fold. Gordon, who doesn't turn 25 years old until next April, should fetch a decent return package.

The Dodgers haven't ruled out Dee Gordon as their starting shortstop next season.
Gordon was limited to 87 games in 2012 due to injuries and struggled offensively when healthy, but it sounds like he'll have a chance to reclaim his starting job in spring training. "We're not ruling out Dee Gordon, but we're not anointing him either," GM Ned Colletti said. The Dodgers are also considering their late-season alignment of Hanley Ramirez at shortstop and Luis Cruz at third base.

Dodgers activated SS Dee Gordon from the 60-day disabled list.
Gordon is recovered from the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb and ready to provide an element of great speed off the Dodgers' bench down the stretch. But he is doubtful to hold any fantasy value.
