Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that David Ortiz is expected to accept the Red Sox' arbitration offer.
It's probably the smart move on Ortiz's part, as he's projected to receive around $16 million in arbitration and reportedly has only a two-year, $18 million offer on the table from the Red Sox. He'd like to get $25 million on a two-year deal from someone, but Big Papi probably prefers to just stay in Boston and try free agency again next offseason.

Joe McDonald of ESPNBoston.com reports that the Red Sox have offered David Ortiz a two-year, $18 million contract.
McDonald says Ortiz is looking for two years and $25 million. If that's really all the Red Sox are offering, then Ortiz should just go ahead and accept arbitration if he wants to remain in Boston, as he could get around $16 million that way. Otherwise, perhaps other teams will be in play.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Red Sox are "pretty confident" they'll be able to re-sign David Ortiz on a two-year deal if he doesn't accept arbitration.
Despite drawing interest from the Blue Jays and Orioles, Big Papi has never seemed very likely to leave Boston. He could get around $16 million through arbitration or will likely receive a little over $20 million on a two-year pact. The 36-year-old batted .309/.398/.554 with 29 home runs and 96 RBI in 146 games as Boston's DH in 2011.

Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports that David Ortiz has yet to decide whether he will accept arbitration from the Red Sox.
The speculation is that he could receive as much as $16 million through arbitration, so Big Papi is evidently considering accepting. Ultimately, though, he'll probably wind up negotiating a two-year deal with the Red Sox or someone else. The Blue Jays and Orioles reportedly have interest.

An industry source told Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald that free agent David Ortiz is receiving "serious" interest from more than one team.
In other words, the Red Sox have company. Which isn't surprising because both the Blue Jays and Orioles have already been linked. Ortiz batted .309/.398/.554 with 29 home runs and 96 RBI in 146 games this year, and seems likely to score a substantial two- or three-year deal. A Type A free agent, he could also make around $16 million for 2011 by accepting an offer of salary arbitration from the Red Sox.

Jon Heyman of SI.com was told by one agent that David Ortiz could get $16 million through arbitration.
Ortiz, a Type A free agent, was offered arbitration on Wednesday. He could accept if he can't find multi-year offer by December 7, but Heyman suggests that a two-year contract worth between $25-28 million seems reasonable for both Ortiz and Boston.

David Ortiz was offered arbitration by the Red Sox.
Big Papi is aiming to land one last multi-year contract this winter and is likely to decline the Red Sox' arbitration offer. The 36-year-old slugger batted .309/.398/.554 this past year with 29 home runs and 96 RBI. Tim Wakefield, J.D. Drew and Jason Varitek were not offered arbitration by Boston at Wednesday night's deadline.

According to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com, the Red Sox have made an offer to David Ortiz.
It's not clear what the offer entails, but the Red Sox have been in touch with Ortiz's representatives over the past few days in hopes of reaching a quick resolution. Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are scheduled to meet with Ortiz's agent, Fern Cuza, on Tuesday night, so it's possible more progress will be made. Ortiz, who turns 36 on Friday, earned $12.5 million this season while batting .309/.398/.554 with 29 homers, 96 RBI and a .953 OPS. He is likely aiming for a multi-year contract with a similar annual salary.

Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said Friday that talks with the representatives for David Ortiz are ongoing.
"We have had a lot of dialogue with David and his agents," said Cherington. "Because of what I feel, and I think he feels, is a little bit more of a defined market for that role it's been easier to engage sooner. It's probably less likely to be a situation where he gets into the market and there's something that he's pushed into a corner on. David knows we want him to be here. We want him to be back with the Red Sox. We want him in our lineup. We've had a lot of dialogue to see if there's a way to do that and I think that will continue." Ortiz, who turns 36 next week, earned $12.5 million this season while batting .309/.398/.554 with 29 homers, 96 RBI and a .953 OPS. He will likely aim for a multi-year contract with a similar annual salary.

During an appearance on WEEI in Boston on Thursday, David Ortiz said that he has yet to receive an offer from the Red Sox.
"I was expecting something would happen before (the exclusive negotiating period ran out), but so many things are going on," said Ortiz. "I know everybody has priorities, and to be honest with you, I thought I was one of them." Most expected Ortiz to hit the open market, so we wouldn't necessarily take this as a lack of interest on Boston's part. The veteran slugger earned $12.5 million this season while batting .309/.398/.554 with 29 homers, 96 RBI and a .953 OPS.
