Ortiz is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Red Sox manager John Farrell will give Ortiz the day off after he made history Saturday with a pair of home runs that helped him reach 500 for his career. After a slow start to the season, Ortiz is producing right in line with where he's been in previous years, as he's amassed 34 homers, 31 doubles, and 95 RBI to go along with a solid .275 batting average.

Ortiz hit two homers in Saturday night's win over the Rays to become just the 27th player in MLB history to hit 500 homers. He went 3-for-4 with four RBI in the win.
EDGE Analysis
Interim manager Torey Lovullo had given Ortiz the option to take the day off Saturday, but Ortiz asked into the lineup. And they way he's been hitting, why would he take a day off. Over the last two weeks, Ortiz is 19-of-46 with seven doubles, eight homers and 19 RBI with a 1.548 OPS in 13 games.

Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a RBI and a run in Friday's loss to Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz is absolutely crushing the ball as the season winds to a close, bashing 12 homers and driving in 33 RBI since Aug. Ortiz has struggled with a calf injury that is worth checking in on day to day, but if he's in Boston's lineup, he should be in yours.

Ortiz went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk against the Jays on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
After a slow first half, Ortiz has more than lived up to his reputation as a strong finisher. He's working on his third consecutive month with an OPS over 1.000, and Ortiz has a ridiculous .333/.403/.708 line with 17 homers and 47 RBI in 48 games since the All-Star break. Plug him in whenever the Sox are facing a righty.

Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI and a run Monday against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz left yesterday's game with a right calf strain, but was back in the lineup today at DH. He eventually left the game for a pinch-runner, but with the Red Sox winning in blowout fashion, the move was likely precautionary. He's now collected hits in nine of his last 10 games, and he's also posted six extra-base hits in his last five contests.

Ortiz (calf) is back in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays, Scott Lauber of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz was pulled from Sunday's game against the Phillies with right calf tightness, but the 39-year-old at least provided a three-run home run before exiting. It sounds like his removal was only precautionary, as he evidently was no worse for the wear while working out on the field prior to Monday's series opener. He'll slot back in at DH and man the cleanup spot for the Red Sox.

Ortiz went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer Sunday against Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz hit his 200th homer in Fenway Park to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the first inning that they'd never relinquish. It ended up being his only at-bat, as he left the game with right calf tightness. He's now homered in back-to-back games, and he also has five bombs over his last nine contests. He's considered day-to-day with his calf issue.

Ortiz (calf) is considered day-to-day, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz exited Sunday's game for what was reportedly precautionary reasons due to calf tightness, and the issue appears to be minor. Assuming nothing more comes of it, Ortiz could rejoin the lineup within the next few days if his calf permits.

Ortiz exited Sunday's game in the fifth inning with a tight right calf, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear exactly what might have caused the calf tightness, but it will force him to miss the remainder of Sunday's contest at a minimum. Allen Craig will bat for him the rest of the way, and the team will likely provide an update on Ortiz's status at some point in the near future.

Ortiz belted his 30th homer of the season in Saturday's win over the Phillies. He becomes just the seventh player in MLB history to his 30 homers at age 39 or older.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz has had a resurgent second half, hitting .331 with a 1.094 OPS since the All-Star break. Just when we think age may be catching up to him -- he was hitting just .231 with a .761 OPS at the break -- Ortiz bounces back and is on his way to another good offensive season.
