Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a double , solo homer and a walk in a 4-3 victory over the Yankees on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz got another step closer to career dinger No. 500 and closed out what was his most prolific month with the bat by far to this point in the season. The veteran slugger has come to life at the plate since the All-Star break, knocking around opposing pitching to the tune of a .340 average. He's also now homered in three out of four contests and continued to make life miserable for Ivan Nova on Monday, against whom he sports a .400 average (10-for-25) with three doubles, two homers and five RBI lifetime.

Ortiz went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer Sunday at the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz shook off a sore heel and gave the Red Sox their only lead of the contest with his sixth-inning homer in a game the team would go on to lose. He's been on fire in the month of August with a .341 batting average with seven homers.

Ortiz (heel) will start at first base Sunday against the Mets, Mike Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz has dealt with heel tightness throughout the weekend, but was able to pinch hit Saturday, and will make a rare defensive appearance Sunday. It will be just the ninth time this season that Big Papi has appeared in the field.

Ortiz (heel) was used as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz whacked a double off Bartolo Colon and was replaced by pinch-runner Rusney Castillo. He said there was some discomfort in the heel, but not too bad and he's in line to start at first base Sunday.

Ortiz (heel) is available off the bench Saturday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
While he is not in the starting lineup Saturday, it's possible that he would be if the DH were available to the Red Sox. Alas, the game is in Citi Field and therefore it's first base or nothing for Ortiz. Travis Shaw will get the start at first base and it is unclear if Ortiz will be deployed for the series finale Sunday.

Ortiz (heel) is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz's heel gave him some trouble Friday night and ultimately forced him to leave the game early. With the Red Sox playing at Citi Field this weekend without the luxury of having a DH, Ortiz will sit out of Saturday's contest and Travis Shaw will take over at first base.

Ortiz left Friday's game with left heel tightness, the Providence Journal's Tim Britton reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to exiting Ortiz hit his 27th home run of the season. With the Red Sox playing in a National League park this weekend, it would not be surprising if he was held out of the lineup for the rest of the series against the Mets. Travis Shaw, who replaced Ortiz on Friday, would figure to start at first base if Ortiz is held out.
