Duffy will get the start Sunday against the Braves, but he will be on a 50-pitch limit, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Royals placing 40 percent of its rotation on the DL on Thursday, there was a glaring need for a spot starter. Enter Duffy, who has been working out of the bullpen this year but did make 24 starts last season, working a 4.35 ERA with 90 strikeouts and 51 walks in those outings in 2015. Although he is the nominal starter Sunday, his low pitch-count will likely prevent him from figuring in the decision.

Duffy gave up three earned runs, two hits and one walk while striking out two in one inning during a win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Throughout six appearances in 2016, Duffy has given up five earned runs while allowing nine hits. He holds an 8:3 K:BB during 7.1 innings in a relief role this year. Previously, Duffy had been in the starting rotation, going 24-30 with a 3.80 ERA over the course of the last five seasons with the club. The 27-year-old is adjusting to his new spot in the bullpen and will not be pitching in high-leverage spots anytime soon.

Duffy appears in line to begin the 2016 regular season in a relief role, the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy had been considered a fringe option for the starting rotation throughout the majority of the spring, but it appears the left-hander is finally getting a more clearly defined role. This approach has worked for manager Ned Yost and company in the past, as starter-turned-reliever Wade Davis is currently firmly entrenched as the team's closer. In place of Duffy, the Royals will elect to use Chris Young and Kris Medlen to round out their starting rotation.

Duffy has given up six runs in six innings this spring with just two strikeouts and three walks. He looks set to begin the season in the bullpen as a result, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It looks like Duffy and Dillon Gee will lose out on the rotation and move to the bullpen with Kris Medlen beginning the season as the fifth starter. It's possible Duffy could move back to the rotation at some point.

Duffy gave up three runs on five hits over two innings against the White Sox in his spring debut Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty's first pitch of the spring was crushed by Adam Eaton for an opposite-field home run. It might set him back a bit in his bid to claim one of the two open spots in the Kansas City rotation, but Duffy will have several chances to right the ship. Duffy thrived in a bullpen role late last year, with his fastball ticking up from 94 mph to 96, and pitching coach Dave Eiland and manager Ned Yost said they are open to all possibilities with Duffy.

Duffy agreed to a one-year contract with the Royals on Friday, avoiding arbitration.
EDGE Analysis
The 2015 season represented a significant step back for Duffy after his outstanding 2014 campaign, but he found new life late in the year with a move to the bullpen, making six scoreless appearances with a 12:2 K:BB. With Johnny Cueto leaving in free agency and the bullpen already loaded, Duffy may be thrust back into a starting role to begin 2016, though the team has yet to confirm Duffy's role for the start of camp.

Duffy has been moved to the bullpen, Andy McCullough of the KC Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy is winless in his last four starts, and he was tagged for four earned runs on six hits in just 2.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to Cleveland. The Royals will move Jeremy Guthrie back into the rotation in Duffy's place, but McCullough's report notes that Duffy will still be competing for a spot on the postseason roster.

Duffy (7-8) struggled on Wednesday, lasting just 2.1 innings while allowing four runs on six hits and two walks in a loss to the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Over his last six starts, Duffy has either allowed four runs or two runs. That very much matches his mediocre season, as he maintains a 4.25 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 24 starts this season. After allowing just 113 hits in 149.1 innings last season, Duffy has allowed 133 hits in just 128.1 innings this season. The strikeouts are down as well, so it's tough to determine what type of pitcher we'll see nest year. In any case, he'll take on the Mariners in his next start on Tuesday.

Duffy allowed two runs on three hits, walking three and striking out eight over five innings, but came away with a no-decision in the Royals' 14-8 loss to the Orioles on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy posted decent peripherals and left in line to pick up a win, but the bullpen imploded as Baltimore tacked on 12 runs over the final three innings of the contest. Duffy has quality stuff, but he continues to struggle with his command, having completed seven innings in just four of 23 2015 starts.
