Duffy (7-7) surrendered seven hits, four earned runs and two walks in seven innings in a 6-1 loss to the White Sox on Saturday. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy completed at least seven innings of work for only the fourth time in 22 starts in 2015 and his 103 pitches (of which 66 were strikes) were the second-highest number he has thrown in an appearance all season. He had his generally solid performance done in by two long balls, with Alexi Ramirez's three-run dinger in the fourth inning especially doing damage. After a recent five-start stretch during August in which Duffy did not surrender a single round-tripper, the 26-year-old southpaw has now surrendered at least one gopher ball in consecutive starts and three overall in his last 12 innings.

Duffy earned a no-decision Sunday against the Rays, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty pitched well for the most part and only allowed a solo home run after being nicked for a run in the first. Duffy has now allowed three runs or fewer in eight of his last 10 starts and has lowered his ERA to 4.11. His place in the rotation seems to be safe at the moment as long as he keeps pitching well, and he is next scheduled to take the mound Saturday against the White Sox.

Duffy earned the victory Friday, throwing six shutout innings and giving up only four hits and three walks against the Blue Jays. It wasn't as pretty as the line might suggest, as he had to escape trouble in the second and fourth innings, but the lefty was able to keep the highest-scoring offense in the majors off the board. The 26-year-old did not record a strikeout on the evening, instead relying on the groundball (7 groundball outs) to mitigate any damage. That's now two straight quality starts for Duffy, who was pulled to start the seventh inning after throwing 95 pitches.

Duffy was stuck with the no-decision Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one in 6.1 innings against the Twins. The 26-year-old successfully maneuvered through the Twins' order by keeping the ball down -- he induced nine groundball outs. Since returning from the DL in late June, Duffy has thrown into the seventh inning in two of his three starts while recording an 11:5 K:BB ratio over 17.2 innings. Duffy will look to continue chipping away at his 5.14 ERA and 1.59 WHIP Friday against the Blue Jays at Kauffman Stadium.

Duffy took his fourth loss Tuesday against Houston as he allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out six. Duffy has 10 strikeouts against just two walks in his since his return but has served up 14 hits in those 11.1 innings. Duffy has dealt with control issues all year, but sometimes missing in the zone is even more dangerous than missing for a ball. Duffy's ERA remains 5.44 as he has yet to find his rhythm all year long.

Duffy pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two runs -- one earned -- on eight hits while striking out four in Wednesday's win over the Mariners. Duffy, in his first start for Kansas City since a rehab stint, was one out away from being the pitcher of record but couldn't close the fifth. He picked up a no-decision instead, and he'll look to go deeper into the game in his next scheduled start Tuesday at Houston.

Duffy has been reinstated from the 15-day DL ahead of his start Wednesday against the Mariners. Duffy struggled in his last three starts before landing on the DL as his ERA ballooned from 3.45 to 5.87. In his last start with the Royals on May 16, Duffy allowed four earned runs over five innings with three strikeouts. The Royals optioned right-hander Michael Mariot to clear room for Duffy, who will be pitching at Safeco Field against Roenis Elias and the Mariners.

Duffy (shoulder) will get the start for the Royals on Wednesday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Duffy has made solid progress in his rehab and is now slated to start Wednesday against the Mariners. That spot theoretically would have been open for Yohan Pino to get the start, but he was optioned on Saturday. There is no word yet on the coordinating move for when the Royals activate Duffy.

Duffy (shoulder) will make his next rehab start at Triple-A Northwest Arkansas, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports. Duffy threw 65 pitches in Wednesday's outing at Triple-A, allowing just one earned run while striking out six over 3.2 innings. It's unclear when he'll move to Double-A, though it's possible that if all goes well it could be his final rehab start before returning to Kansas City.
