Collin McHugh dazzled in his return to the majors, striking out 12 over 6 2/3 shutout frames in Tuesday's 5-2 victory against the Mariners. Where did this come from? McHugh, a December waiver claim from Colorado who couldn't crack Houston's Quad-A pitching corps until this very night due to Scott Feldman's injury, made Seattle look downright silly, declining to issue a free pass and scattering just three hits. The 26-year-old McHugh entered this game with a 8.94 ERA over nine starts and six relief appearances in the majors. And you wonder why we love baseball? McHugh's encore will come Sunday in Houston against the A's. We don't believe in Santa Claus, so buy in at your own risk.

Astros recalled RHP Collin McHugh from Triple-A Oklahoma City. McHugh will replace the injury Scott Feldman (biceps) in the rotation and will start Tuesday night against the Mariners. The 26-year-old owns an 8.94 ERA over nine starts and six relief appearances in the majors and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Collin McHugh will start on Tuesday in Seattle. He'll be taking the rotation spot of the injured Scott Feldman (biceps). McHugh's high pitch count at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season has been 73, so the Astros bullpen will certainly get some work Tuesday. The 26-year-old should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Astros claimed RHP Collin McHugh off waivers from the Rockies. The Rockies designated McHugh for assignment earlier this week to clear a 40-man roster spot for new left-handed reliever Boone Logan. Then, on Wednesday, Colorado made space in the bullpen for Logan by swapping southpaw Josh Outman for Drew Stubbs. Thanks to Houston, the transactions now have a certain symmetry. The 26-year-old McHugh, acquired from the Mets for Eric Young Jr. in June, owns an awful 8.94 ERA over 47 1/3 career innings at the major league level. He'll have to show something in spring training to avoid another trip to the waiver wire.

Collin McHugh was pounded for eight runs in four innings by the Dodgers on Friday. McHugh, who was acquired from the Mets for Eric Young Jr. in June, went 0-3 with a 9.95 ERA in his four starts for the Rockies and 0-4 with a 10.07 ERA in 26 innings overall. He's probably getting dropped from the 40-man roster this winter.

Collin McHugh is likely to start for the Rockies when they take on the Diamondbacks on Saturday. McHugh twirled five solid innings against the Cardinals on Monday, surrendering just one run, which was enough to earn him another trip through the rotation. He remains a dreadful option in most fantasy formats, especially while pitching at Coors Field.

Collin McHugh worked five innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals on Monday. McHugh, who started in place of Jorge De La Rosa, entered Monday's game against a dangerous offense in Coors Field with a 10.50 ERA. He surprised many with the steady outing, but don't get ahead of yourself. The 26-year-old, acquired from the Mets for Eric Young in June, struck out only two batters, bringing him up to a grand total of seven whiffs over 17 innings. He isn't guaranteed another start.

Collin McHugh will start in place of Jorge De La Rosa when the Rockies take on the Cardinals on Monday. The 26-year-old has made one other start for the Rockies with disastrous results, surrendering six runs on nine hits over his five innings of work. Welcoming in the hard-hitting Cardinals offense to Coors Field seems like a recipe for disaster on Monday, so he should be avoided at all costs.

Rockies recalled RHP Collin McHugh from Triple-A Colorado Springs. McHugh was rocked for six runs over five innings in a spot start for the Rockies earlier this season. He could get another shot to start but will work out of the bullpen for now.
