Collin McHugh fell to 4-5 after allowing two unearned runs over six innings in Thursday's loss to the Rays.
McHugh, who had struggled a bit in his previous two starts, was able to hold the anemic Rays offense at bay. The right-hander allowed four hits, walked three, and struck out six in the effort. He continues to provide value for the Astros, as he has a 2.76 ERA, a 1.09 ERA, and a 72/25 K/BB ratio in 65 1/3 innings. McHugh will take on the Braves in his next start.

Collin McHugh gave up four runs (three earned) over five innings in Friday's loss to the Rays.
McHugh, who dealt with a blister on his index finger coming out of his last start, gave up five hits and three walks in the loss. He has failed to pitch more than five innings in each of his last three starts. Still, he owns a surprising 3.03 ERA through 10 starts and remains a solid option in mixed leagues. He'll make another start against the Rays next week, this time in Tampa Bay.

Collin McHugh is dealing with a blister on his right middle finger but remains scheduled to start on Friday against the Rays.
McHugh was likely affected by the blister in Sunday's outing, when he walked five while allowing three runs in 4 1/3 innings. "You just want to stimulate healing from the bottom up," he said. "It affects feel more than anything. For some guys, feel's a bigger deal. For me it's kind of a big deal, just kind of trying to let (the ball) go."

Collin McHugh struggled in a start against the Twins on Sunday, walking five while allowing three runs in 4 1/3 innings.
McHugh gave up three hits, including a home run, while striking out six in the abbreviated start. It was his first clunker in his last six starts, as he's been pretty good for most of the season. Even on a bad day, McHugh was living right -- his team scored 14 runs in support, sparing him from taking his fourth loss. He'll try to get back on the right track Friday against the Rays.

Collin McHugh was sharp again on Tuesday, tossing five scoreless innings in a win over the Angels.
McHugh allowed only two hits and walked two in his five innings, striking out four. It was the second straight start in which the right-hander didn't allow a run, lowering his ERA to 2.52 and WHIP to 0.96 in the process. The right-hander continues to be a solid mixed league play heading into Sunday's start at the Twins.

Collin McHugh allowed five hits while striking out nine over seven shutout innings, and the Astros topped the Royals 3-0 on Tuesday.
McHugh didn't walk a batter in the dominating performance. It's been mostly good for the surprising right-hander this year, as Tuesday's win moved him to 3-3 with a 2.80 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 50/12 K/BB ratio over 45 innings of work. His teammate Dallas Keuchel has stolen the show, but McHugh's turnaround this year has been remarkable -- and, like Keuchel's, it's been fairly legitimate as well. He'll take on the Orioles in his next start on Sunday.

Collin McHugh allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings, taking the loss against the Angels on Wednesday.
The right-hander whiffed seven and walked two. McHugh has cooled off considerably since he logged a 0.59 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 19/3 K/BB ratio over his first two starts. This counts as his best outing since, which is why McHugh is an iffy proposition in AL-only formats. If you can stomach the risk, knock yourself out, but don't judge him by the 3.32 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The upstart McHugh heads to the Midwest to square off against one of the game's most talented young hurlers in Monday's matchup against Yordano Ventura and the Royals.

Collin McHugh allowed six runs -- five earned -- on eight hits over four innings in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday.
McHugh's first loss in three starts looked more like the pitcher with a career ERA of 6.89, serving up four extra-base hits among his eight hits allowed. Even with the bad outing, McHugh's numbers are still an impressive 2.79 ERA and 0.88 WHIP through 19 1/3 innings. He's got another tough test Friday at the Orioles.

Collin McHugh was one out shy of the complete-game victory Sunday, lasting 8 2/3 innings while allowing one run in the Astros' 5-1 win over the A's.
McHugh has come out of nowhere to dominate the Mariners and A's this week, as he's now thrown 15 1/3 innings while posting a 0.59 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 19/3 K/BB ratio. On Sunday, McHugh allowed just two hits and three walks while fanning seven. Astros manager Bo Porter tried to get him the complete game, but McHugh was running on fumes by the time Alberto Callaspo singled with two outs in the ninth to break up the shutout. The revelation will try to keep things rolling when he has another date with the Mariners on Sunday.
