Allen managed just two outs, giving up four hits -- including a walk-off RBI single -- in Tuesday's 10-inning loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The closer's record dropped to 0-5 on the season, but Allen isn't in jeopardy of losing his job. Four of his five losses have come in non-save situations, so the righty is 17-for-18 in save chances (94.4 percent conversion rate). Fantasy owners shouldn't worry much about Allen's record, although it's not too encouraging to see him give up a season-high four hits to a pathetic Giants offense.

Allen retired the side in order to pick up his 17th save of the season during Monday's 5-3 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Allen entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead and made quick work of his opposition, mowing down the game's final three batters in just 13 pitches. Monday's outing brought the closer's ERA back below 3.00 on the season.

Allen will temporarily shift into a setup role more often as skipper Terry Francona aims to manage the workload of Cleveland's relievers, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Francona wants Allen and Andrew Miller to share a similar workload this season. Entering Wednesday, the latter has logged 10 more frames than the former. "When they both have to pitch, there are going to be times Cody might go ahead of him because Andrew has carried such a workload that I'd like to see Cody shoulder that for a little bit," the skipper said. From an optimistic point of view, Allen will see an increase in usage; however, the loss of save chances will hurt his value in most fantasy formats. Francona's plan sounds temporary, but Miller has proven to be a dominant closer, and he's certainly capable of stealing the full-time job from Allen with a stretch of strong conversions.

Allen retired the only batter he faced to record his 16th save of the season Sunday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Although the Indians entered the ninth inning with a large lead, a five-run rally by Detroit brought them within three runs after two men had been retired in the ninth. Allen entered with the tying run on deck but needed just three pitches to induce a game-ending comebacker off the bat of Andrew Romine. Allen had operated somewhat unsuccessfully in a setup role of late, so perhaps Sunday's events indicate that the club is ready to restore the bullpen to its original configuration.

Allen pitched a scoreless eighth inning to collect his third hold of the season during Saturday's win over Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Andrew Miller pitched the ninth inning and collected the save, which is slightly concerning to Allen's fantasy value because he had allowed four runs through four innings over his previous four appearances. It might have been a matchup-based decision for manager Terry Francona, and Allen could quickly return to ninth-inning duty. While it's definitely a situation to monitor going forward, making a hasty roster decision is ill-advised.

Allen allowed two runs on three hits (one homer) while striking out two in the ninth inning of Wednesday's win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
In what was his third straight night of work, Allen surrendered a ninth inning home run for the second game in a row. After an Adrian Beltre homer resulted in his fourth loss of the season Tuesday, Allen conceded a home run to Elvis Andrus on Wednesday. The 28-year-old has now given up three homers in his last four contests after allowing just two round-trippers in his first 27 games. He still sports a 2.90 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 15 saves in 31 innings pitched this season, so he should continue to provide solid fantasy value.

Allen (0-3) allowed one run on one hit and one walk over one inning to take the loss Saturday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Allen started the eighth inning, as he was trying to protect a one-run lead, but after giving up a solo homer to Brian Dozier, he blew his second save of the year. Aside from a 1.36 WHIP, he'll continue to be a great fantasy option based on his 2.25 ERA and his ability to close out games.

Allen was reinstated from the paternity list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Allen hasn't pitched since June 18 while attending to the birth of his child, but will be back in the bullpen as the team opens a critical home series with the Twins. The closer has converted 15-of-16 save opportunities this season and has yet to allow an earned run this month.

Allen was placed on the paternity list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Allen was away from the team Wednesday and was officially put on leave Thursday, following the birth of his child. The right-hander will miss Thursday's game and could be gone through Saturday's contest with the Twins. Allen may return before Sunday, and in a corresponding move, the team activated Mike Clevinger from Triple-A Columbus for his start Thursday night against Baltimore.

Allen was not available Wednesday night because he was in Cleveland with his wife who was giving birth, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear if the Indians will place Allen on the paternity list at this point with the team returning to Cleveland on Friday, though the move seems likely. Andrew Miller will continue to hold down the ninth inning while Allen is away, though the 28-year-old should be back before long.
