Allen has only allowed a single run all season, and he currently sports a 0.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 16.6 K/9 through 13 innings. He's not going to maintain a 94.1 strand rate, but it'll probably take a lot more than the odd poor outing before his job is in jeopardy.

Allen allowed no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one over one inning to earn his eighth save Saturday against the Royals.

Despite allowing a pair of baserunners, Allen was able to shut the door on the Royals, as he protected a two-run lead. He's not only converted each of his eighth save opportunities, but he's only allowed one run over 12 outings, making him an outstanding fantasy option at closer.

EDGE Analysis

It took him 25 pitches to finish off this uncharacteristically inefficient outing, which incredibly saw Allen triple his season walk total (from one to three). He's been absolutely outstanding again this year, so even with Andrew Miller lurking about, Allen's in a rock-solid spot as Cleveland's closer.

Allen was named the AL Reliever of the Month for April.

The new award is MLB's monthly honor that will go to the best reliever in each league (Colorado's Greg Holland was the NL winner). Allen won the inaugural prize with a jaw-dropping 20:1 K:BB over 10 innings in April. He allowed just one run while converting all six of his save chances.

The Astros made it interesting in the ninth as they put runners on the corners with one out against Allen, but the Indians closer worked out of the jam to close out the game. He's now 5-for-5 in save chances with an 18:1 K:BB over nine appearances.

Allen struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday to pick up his fourth save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Astros.

The Cleveland righty has been dominant to begin the season, striking out multiple batters in all but one of his appearances so far to give him a 17:1 K:BB through eight innings. Even with Andrew Miller in the bullpen alongside him, Allen remains the team's primary closer.

The closer began warming up in the bullpen with a save chance in mind. However, the Indians pounded out two runs in the top of the ninth that forced Allen to enter in a non-save situation. Thursday marked the righty's third perfect appearance in his last four outings. Allen sports an impressive 15:1 K:BB through his first seven games (6.2 innings) of the campaign.

Andrew Miller set him up in the eighth while walking one and fanning one. Allen made it interesting in the ninth by loading the bases, but he was able to coax Joe Mauer to pop out to secure the save. The 28-year-old is a perfect 3-for-3 in saves this year with a sparkling 1.59 ERA and 20.6 K/9 in 5.2 innings. He's a tier below the elite closers due to the presence of Miller, but Allen owners aren't complaining.

Allen struck out the side in the ninth inning of Tuesday's extra-inning affair with the White Sox.

Allen's most dominant effort of the year nearly earned the closer a victory. Yan Gomes struck out in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run in scoring position to send the contest into extras, leaving Allen without a part in the decision.
