This marked Allen's first save since September 17, as well as his first scoreless outing since then. Although it's unlikely that he'll match last year's saves total or his ERA, his 12.1 K/9 keeps him in the top echelon of closers heading into next season.

Allen picked up a four-out save Sunday, his 28th of the year, after allowing a hit and one walk while striking out three Royals.

The closer continued his string of strong efforts during the season's final month. Through eight September appearances, Allen has six saves, two wins and a 10:3 K:BB over 7.2 innings. He now ranks sixth in the AL for saves.

Allen struck out one during a perfect ninth inning to capture his 27th save of the season Wednesday against Detroit, and help Cleveland break the AL record with its 21st straight win.

The Tribe's closer hasn't given up an earned run in his last 15 appearances, a stretch in which he's surrendered just six hits while striking out 18 over 13.1 innings. Allen has notched five saves and a win through six appearances this month, and the 28-year-old has his ERA down to 2.56 -- its lowest point since late June. He's now on pace to nail down 30-plus saves for a third straight season.

Allen threw a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts against the Orioles on Sunday en route to his 26th save of the season.

The Indians have been seemingly unbeatable lately, leaving Allen as one of the more valuable fantasy closers down the stretch.

Allen worked around a pair of walks with one strikeout in a scoreless inning to earn his 24th save of the season in Monday's win over the White Sox.

EDGE Analysis

Allen walked his second batter of the inning with two outs but was able to strike out Rob Brantly to close out the game. He has now gone 12 consecutive outings without allowing an earned run to lower his ERA to 2.70. Allen has rebounded after dealing with some inconsistency earlier this season and is producing useful totals for fantasy owners down the stretch.

Allen tossed one-third of an inning Saturday against the Tigers to pick up his 23rd save of the season.

EDGE Analysis

Just a day removed from a blown save, the Indians went back to their closer when Bryan Shaw ran into difficulties in the ninth inning of Saturday's contest. Allen did allow one hit, but he managed to close out the game with just eight pitches. He's a bit behind his pace from the previous two seasons in terms of saves collected, but his good strikeout numbers and strong peripherals keep him as one of the better fantasy closers out there.
