Davis is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday versus the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports. Davis is merely receiving at off-day Monday, his first since Aug. 2. In the meantime, he cobbled together a five-game hitting streak, during which he recorded a .167 average (5-for-30), three homers, six RBI, and five runs. With 13 strikeouts on the ledger, though, he upheld his dour 33.5 percent strikeout rate on the season.

Davis is out of the lineup Monday against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports. Davis is sitting against a left-hander, Chris Capuano, despite getting the nod against the Orioles' last two opposing southpaw starters. Meanwhile, after putting together a five-game hitting streak last week, Davis promptly reverted, going hitless in eight combined at-bats Saturday and Sunday. He'll yield first base to Steve Pearce, who is batting sixth in the order.

Davis hit his 19th home run of the season Wednesday en route to finishing 1-for-3 against the Blue Jays. The hit and the run would be all that the Orioles would muster against Drew Hutchison. He's now homered in consecutive games, the first time he's done so all year, and the RBI increased his season total to 54. Unfortunately, Davis is still batting just .197, which is dead-last among qualified hitters in all of MLB.

Davis was dropped to seventh in the order Tuesday, where he went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Blue Jays. Davis also struck out twice. Therein lies the problem. Davis is on pace for 189 strikeouts in 136 games and 480 at-bats this season. Without a trip to the disabled list he might have challenged the single-season record of 223 strikeouts owned by Mark Reynolds. The Orioles seem to have lost confidence in Davis, even sitting him against a left-hander recently.

Chris Davis homered in the top of the 10th inning to break a 1-1 tie and lead the Orioles past the Mariners 2-1 on Friday. Davis hasn't had a whole lot of reason to celebrate this year, but he came through in a big spot tonight. It was his 17th homer in 310 at-bats this year, which is still a pretty good clip, even if it's well off last year's pace. The problem is that he has just 36 singles and 10 doubles on the year, leaving him with a .203 average.

Chris Davis had a solo homer and an RBI double versus the A's on Saturday night. The solo shot came off old friend Jim Johnson in the ninth. It was just Davis's second multihit game in five weeks. He's currently batting .204, but he should only get better.

Chris Davis blasted a two-run homer on Sunday, powering the Orioles to a 3-1 victory over the Yankees in a rain-shortened five-inning game. Davis connected on an opposite field two-run blast off Chase Whitley in the fourth inning, getting the O's on the board and proving to provide the margin of victory. He finished the night 1-for-2, finishing the first half of the season with a disappointing .199/.309/.391 line to go along with 15 long balls and 48 RBI.
