Davis was diagnosed with a stomach virus but hopes to get back in the lineup Wednesday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It seems like the issue at hand isn't too severe. Davis will be replaced at first base by Trey Mancini for Tuesday's contest, but look for the slugger to return to action in Wednesday's series finale.

Davis (illness) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
The power-hitting first baseman sat out due to an undisclosed illness Monday, and it seems like a night off didn't do the trick to get him healthy again. No word has come forth as to what the actual ailment is yet, so consider Davis day-to-day for now. Trey Mancini will slide over to cover first base in his stead while Joey Rickard picks up a start in right field to round out the lineup.

Davis is dealing with an illness Monday, Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This explains why the slugger isn't in the lineup Monday. Davis is reportedly meeting with team doctors to find what the exact issue is, but he hopes to be available off the bench for the evening's game. If he's forced to miss more than one game due to this issue, Mark Trumbo and Trey Mancini will likely man first base in his stead.

Davis is out of the lineup Monday against the Rays, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
After returning from an oblique injury to open the second half, Davis has yet to reemerge as a force in the middle of the lineup, submitting a .162 average and .220 on-base percentage while starting the last 10 games. Things weren't likely to improve for Davis on Monday with a lefty on the mound in Blake Snell, so manager Buck Showalter will give the veteran first baseman a day to unwind. Mark Trumbo, who typically sees most of his duties at DH or in the outfield, will make just his second start of the season at first base.

Davis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's win over Texas.
EDGE Analysis
The slugger is just 4-for-26 with three homers since returning from the disabled list. Davis sports a discouraging .218/.309/.469 slash line, and his 38.1 strikeout percentage is well above the 31.3 mark he posted over the previous five seasons. While it's not out of the question to expect him to turn things around, it's unlikely Davis significantly improves his game-to-game consistency. It makes him a boom-or-bust option in weekly settings and daily contests.

Davis (oblique) went 1-for-5 with an RBI double Friday in his return from the 10-day DL.
EDGE Analysis
Over 60 games prior to the break, Davis hit .226 with 14 homers and 26 RBI, his lowest such totals for a campaign's first half in five seasons. Since 2014, the slugging first baseman has slashed .234/.344/.515 after the break, all of which are better marks than his average line prior to the Midsummer Classic during that span. It's more than reasonable to believe the 31-year-old's best days are behind him, but Davis should still have plenty left in the tank to make a strong contribution in power categories moving forward.

Davis (oblique) was activated from the DL and is back in the lineup Friday, manning first base and batting fifth.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Davis is back to kick off the second half following a month-long absence due to an oblique strain. He's slated to face two lefties in the weekend series against the Cubs (Mike Montgomery and Jose Quintana), but Davis was hitting southpaws reasonably well before going down with the injury, collecting 20 hits in 74 at-bats albeit with 32 strikeouts.

Davis (oblique) went hitless in Wednesday's rehab game at High-A Frederick but said he felt great physically after the game, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis hasn't played since June 13, but all things considered, a one-month absence from an oblique strain is far from the worst-case scenario. The Orioles begin a series Friday against the Cubs, and Davis is expected to be back in the lineup as the second half gets underway.

Manager Buck Showalter said he expects Davis (oblique) to be ready to rejoin the team after the All-Star break, The Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The slugger's strained right oblique hasn't encountered any setbacks, and he's slated for a brief rehab assignment beginning Monday at High-A Frederick. Davis has been taking batting practice with the Orioles before each of this weekend's games in Minnesota, and has even fielded grounders off live swings. He's been out since June 13, but all signs point to him being in Friday's lineup against the Cubs.

Davis (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Frederick on Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will follow up the Monday appearance with a day off and then an outing with Low-A Delmarva on Wednesday before an expected return to the Orioles on Friday. The first baseman participated in batting practice prior to Baltimore's game Friday, while also fielding groundballs, which provides another good sign for Davis as he heads toward a rehab assignment.
