He may come by the ballpark and join the team Saturday, but unlike Welington Castillo, he is not yet ready to get back in the mix. However, manager Buck Showalter hinted that Davis may be back for the final game of this weekend's series against the Angels. Trey Mancini is starting at first base and hitting fifth in his place.

Davis is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
The night off will make it the second straight day without a game played for the slugger after the team had an off day Thursday. The sit looks to be a matchup situation as Angels send left-hander Andrew Heaney to the mound. At first base and batting fifth will be Trey Mancini.

Davis went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and two runs in Monday's 11-3 win over Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
Over his first 42 plate appearances of August, Davis collected a measly four hits and four RBI. Things got so bad that Manager Buck Showalter recently gave the slugger a day off to mentally regroup. It must have worked considering Davis is 6-for-13 with five RBI in his last three games. It's been a rough 2017 for the 10-year veteran, but a strong finish is still a possibility that owners can remain hopeful for.

Davis is back in the starting lineup Friday, playing first base and batting seventh against Oakland, John Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The slugger hasn't been penciled into the bottom third of the order since 2014, so Friday's spot is a bit surprising. On the other hand, Davis has been pretty bad lately, hitting just .176 over 85 at-bats since the All-Star break. Typically, sliding down the order hurts a hitter's RBI chances, but that's the least of Davis' worries right now.

Davis is out of the lineupfor Thursday's game against the A's.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed slugger has looked completely lost at the plate since the calendar turned to August as he's slashing .121/.237/.242 with one home run and 11 strikeouts in 33 at-bats. With that, Davis will get a breather Thursday against Chris Smith and the A's. Look for Davis to return to the lineup Friday, and Trey Mancini will take over at first base for Thursday's series opener.

Davis (illness) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Wednesday's matchup with Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis

Davis is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matinee against the Rays, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis missed the last two games with a stomach virus, but appears to be good to go for the series finale Wednesday, as he takes over at first base and bats fourth. The 31-year-old slugger will be looking to break out of a tough slump which has seen him go 6-for-37 with 16 strikeouts since returning from an oblique injury earlier this month.
