Chien-Ming Wang will throw for scouts Wednesday at the Yankees' minor league complex.
Contrary to an earlier report, the Yankees haven't signed Wang, but they simply want to see if he is a viable option. Wang's agent, Alan Chang, told Ken Davidoff of the New York Post on Wednesday that his client has been in touch with multiple teams. The 32-year-old right-hander had a 6.68 ERA and 15/15 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings with the Nationals last season and will likely have to settle for a minor league deal.

Free agent Chien-Ming Wang pitched six scoreless innings Friday as Chinese Taipei beat Australia 4-1 to kick off the World Baseball Classic.
Auditioning for a major league job, Wang allowed four hits, walked none and struck out two. Thanks to three double plays, he managed to get through six innings without exceeding the first-round, 65-pitch limit. Wang's velocity wasn't particularly good tonight; the stadium gun showed him at 82-83 mph, though it was almost surely slow. Wang averaged 91 mph with his fastball with the Nationals last season.

George A. King III of the New York Post reports that the Yankees will have scouts watching Chien-Ming Wang when he pitches for Taiwan during the World Baseball Classic.
General manager Brian Cashman said he hasn't been in contact with Wang's representatives, but it sounds like the club is at least considering adding the right-hander for depth purposes. Wang, of course, spent the first five seasons of his career in pinstripes, winning 19 games for the Bombers in back-to-back seasons. He's posted a 4.94 ERA over just 94 2/3 frames since 2010 while being plagued by shoulder issues.

The Nationals confirmed Chien-Ming Wang will make another start this season.
Manager Davey Johnson didn't speculate when, but it's possible he could pitch Friday against the Cardinals. Wang will ultimately return to the bullpen and likely isn't a candidate for the postseason roster.

Chien-Ming Wang will start for the Nationals on Sunday against the Brewers.
Wang has pitched in just eight games -- four starts -- in 2012 due to hip and hamstring injuries. He has posted a 6.92 ERA while allowing 39 hits over 26 innings of work. Due to a Tuesday doubleheader, manager Davey Johnson needed someone to make a spot start.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said it's "conceivable" that Chien-Ming Wang could get a start or two later this month.
John Lannan will take Stephen Strasburg's spot in the rotation after the latter is shut down, but the Nats could choose to give other starters extra rest after they clinch a playoff spot. Wang holds a 7.61 ERA and 2.15 WHIP over 23 2/3 innings for Washington this year.
