Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) will make his first minor league rehab start on Monday. While Wang is eager to return to the Nationals rotation, he's going to meet some stiff competition in Ross Detwiler who has been very impressive through his first three starts. Wang will need at least a few rehab starts before he's ready to return, so the Nationals have a few weeks to sort things out.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week. Wang tossed 35 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday and reported no lingering issues with his left hamstring. The 32-year-old right-hander should be ready to join the Nationals' starting rotation in early May, pushing Ross Detwiler either to the bullpen or to Triple-A Syracuse.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday. Assuming all goes well Wednesday, Wang will go out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 32-year-old right-hander strained his hamstring almost exactly one month and is on track to come off the disabled list in late April or early May. Ross Detwiler will hold down a spot in the rotation for now.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) will need to throw a few more bullpen sessions before being allowed to face hitters. His first mound session on Saturday went well, but he's still expected back in late April or early May. When Wang returns, Ross Detwiler will move into a long relief role.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) is still at least three weeks away from returning. It falls in line with the late April/early May timetable that's been given. Wang threw off a mound Saturday without suffering any setbacks, but it appears he's still not 100 percent just yet. Ross Detwiler will hold down a rotation spot until Wang is ready.

Chien-Ming Wang (left hamstring strain) is scheduled to throw off a mound in three days. Wang was placed on the disabled list Wednesday and is not expected to join the Nationals' rotation until late April or early May. Ross Detwiler will serve as Washington's No. 5 starter for the first several weeks of the season.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) played long-toss Friday from up to 300 feet. Wang will begin the season on the disabled list after suffering a strained left hamstring on March 15. He'll likely need around two or three minor league rehab starts, so there's a chance he could return by the end of April. John Lannan will take his spot in the rotation for now.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) is reportedly "ahead of schedule," but his availability for Opening Day remains unlikely. Nationals manager Davey Johnson said the bleeding and bruising in Wang's hamstring ''seems to have dissipated,'' though his timetable is still unknown. It's starting to look like John Lannan will open the regular season as Washington's fifth starter.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) was able to play catch Thursday without any issues. It's a nice little step, but we suspect having a light game of catch didn't really push Wang's hamstring. He's still expected to begin the season on the disabled list and might miss the first month or so of the season.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Wednesday that Chien-Ming Wang might not get on a mound for a month. Wang suffered a badly-strained left hamstring during a Grapefruit League outing last Thursday against the Yankees. "He's got a lot of bleeding in there," Johnson told reporters on Wednesday. It appears John Lannan will indeed open the 2012 regular season as Washington's fifth starter.
