Bettis didn't factor into the decision against the Padres Sunday despite allowing two runs on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts in seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Bettis recorded his third straight quality start, but didn't get his third straight win as the game went ten innings. The 27-year-old has been outstanding over his past three starts, allowing just four earned runs, 11 hits and two walks while striking out 18 in 23 innings. Although he leads the National League in earned runs and has a 4.78 ERA, Bettis has been more effective since the All-Star break, going 5-1 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. He'll look to keep rolling in a rematch with San Diego at Coors Field on Sunday.

Bettis (12-7) tossed a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to beat the Giants on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Not only did Bettis manage a complete game shutout against a postseason contender after failing to throw more than seven innings in his previous 27 starts, he did it at Coors Field, where he owned a brutal 5.40 ERA and had allowed 78 hits in 60 innings. Bettis induced 12 swinging strikes and kept the ball on the ground, with 15 groundouts helping him keep the scoreboard blank all night long. Don't expect this to become a trend, though -- Bettis has issued 20 homers in 28 games and has a mediocre 122:50 K:BB over 162.1 innings in posting a 4.88 ERA this season.

Bettis (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out six in Sunday's win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Both runs came on solo shots by Trea Turner and Wilson Ramos, but he was otherwise able to keep the Nats at bay, The outing was Bettis' longest since early April and he hadn't been able to pitch more than five innings in any of his previous three starts, so don't be surprised if the Rockies continue to find ways to give him an extra day of rest when they can. His next turn in the rotation is scheduled for Saturday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Bettis (10-7) gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and seven walks over five innings in a loss Monday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Bettis has now failed to record a quality start in three straight outings after six straight from July 7 through August 6. His total lack of control was very uncharacteristic -- Bettis has walked more than three batters just once this season, when he walked four in 4.2 innings May 25 against Boston. Bettis also allowed his 18th home run in 26 starts, giving a 1.1 HR/9 that is playing a big role in his brutal 5.29 ERA.

Bettis allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over three innings of a rain-shortened start in a no-decision Tuesday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The game was put into a nearly two-and-a-half hour rain delay in the third inning, a delay that ended both starters' outings prematurely. Bettis was struggling, though, with just two swinging strikes in 55 pitches and already six baserunners allowed through just three innings. He owns a 5.29 ERA, one that can't be blamed on Coors Field alone -- in 14 road starts, he has a 5.20 ERA and has allowed 12 of his 17 home runs.

Bettis gave up five runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out two batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Bettis left the game in line for the win despite the lackluster showing, as opposing pitcher Lucas Harrell was roughed up for six runs, but Chris Rusin allowed the Rangers to tie on back-to-back homers in the seventh. After a dismal two-month stretch, Bettis bounced back with a 3.55 ERA in July and he carried that momentum into his first start in August. In fact, Thursday's outing snapped a streak of six straight quality starts for Bettis, who lowered his ERA by more than 70 points over that span. He lines up for a tough matchup against the Nationals at Coors Field in his next start.

Bettis (9-6) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings Sunday while striking out eight but came away with a no-decision in a 6-4 loss to the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
That extends his quality start streak to five games, but it's worth noting that three of those starts have come on the road and in the two at home, Bettis and the Rockies were facing two of the worst offenses in MLB (the Braves and Phillies). He could have a hard time making it six straight QS in his next outing back home Saturday against the Marlins.

Bettis (9-6) threw six solid innings against the Orioles on Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three and earning a win.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the winning record, Bettis has had a middling season overall, entering Tuesday with a 5.31 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. Yet he has turned somewhat of a corner in July, and now has four straight quality starts and a July ERA of 3.38. He has however walked three in each of his last three starts, a mark he'll look to improve upon in his next time out against the Mets on Sunday.

Bettis (8-6) held the Braves to a single run over 6.2 innings in Thursday's win. He struck out four while allowing four hits and three walks.
EDGE Analysis
Any start in which you give up just one run at Coors Field has to be considered a success, and in fact Bettis has delivered three consecutive quality starts (pitching exactly 6.2 innings every time), with two of those coming at home. So he's trending in the right direction, which is nice, but but Bettis still owns a 5.31 ERA and has been no better on the road than at home. That makes it tough to start him in fantasy.

Bettis (7-6) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings, but received no decision Saturday at the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Bettis gave up a two-run homer in the second inning, and later gave up his third run of the night in the seventh inning, but the Rockies were able to score three runs in the eighth inning to take him off the hook for a potential loss. He's now fired quality starts in back-to-back contests to lower his ERA to 5.55. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Braves.
