Braves activated C Brian McCann from the 15-day disabled list.
McCann looked good and, more importantly, didn't feel anything in his oblique, during two rehab games and is good to go. He'll return to a .306/.375/.514 batting line with 18 home runs.

Brian McCann (oblique) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single Friday in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Gwinnett.
McCann, who served as the designated hitter, flew out in the first, grounded out in the third and singled to right in the fifth before exiting. It's not known if he'll catch Saturday, though he'll obviously need to do so before being activated from the disabled list. He could rejoin the Braves as soon as Sunday or Monday.

Brian McCann (oblique) will DH for Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday evening.
That means he'll likely catch on Saturday. The Braves are hoping McCann will only need two rehab games before coming off the disabled list. His status should be updated this evening.

Brian McCann (oblique) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A Gwinnett.
McCann will play Friday and Saturday for Gwinnett before being reevaluated. He could return to the Braves' starting lineup on Sunday after a 17-day absence due to an oblique strain. It's great news for Atlanta.

Brian McCann (oblique) will likely wait until Friday to begin a minor league rehab assignment.
McCann is eligible to return from the disabled list as soon as Friday, but this would likely push him back to Sunday or Monday. Either way, the Braves and fantasy owners have to be pleased with his quick progress from a strained oblique.

Brian McCann (oblique) felt good taking batting practice on the field Monday.
He didn't "turn it loose," but this was certainly a step in the right direction. McCann doesn't want to put a timetable on anything, but said it is possible he could return Friday if he is able to play in rehab games on Wednesday and Thursday. How he feels Tuesday will obviously go a long way towards nailing down a timeline.

Brian McCann (oblique) took batting practice in the indoor cages Saturday without any issues.
He's now swung a bat for the past two days without incident and is expected to begin a short rehab assignment within the next few days. McCann could possibly return on August 12, the first day he's eligible, which is rare for someone with an oblique injury. "He's doing a lot more stuff than I thought he was going to be able to do this early on," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said.
