Nimmo (hamstring) likely won't be able to return to the lineup until later this week, The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
That would still leave him with about a week to prepare for Opening Day and secure his spot on the Mets' bench. If Nimmo's injury keeps him out any longer than that, however, a backdated DL stint or even a demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas could be in the cards.

Nimmo (hamstring) aggravated his strained hamstring while running Friday and will not return to Grapefruit League action Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hope was that Nimmo would be able to get back on the field Saturday, but the recent setback will push back his timetable by a few days. Regardless, he's still expected to be ready by Opening Day.

Nimmo (hamstring) could appear in a Grapefruit League game as soon as Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Early thoughts were that the outfield prospect would miss up to two weeks of action due to this hamstring strain, although it seems like the injury is healing much quicker than expected. Naturally, this is just a projected timetable at this point, but it seems like Nimmo has avoided the worst-case scenario and likely could be ready by Opening Day.

Nimmo said Wednesday that he's coming along faster than expected in his recovery from a Grade 1 hamstring strain and isn't ruling himself out for Opening Day, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nimmo, who suffered the injury while playing for the Italian team in the World Baseball Classic, was initially expected to miss a couple weeks after the Mets had a chance to reevaluate him upon his return to the club. While the Mets haven't altered Nimmo's timetable, it seems as though the door hasn't closed on the 23-year-old's opportunity to claim a reserve role in the majors to begin the season. He expects to test out the hamstring in light workouts soon, which should give the Mets a better indication of whether or not a return for Opening Day is realistic.

Nimmo will be sidelined for a couple weeks due to a grade 1 hamstring strain, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nimmo's hamstring injury will likely put an abrupt end to his World Baseball Classic stint with Team Italy. Although he is only expected to miss a few weeks, there is no guarantee he'll be fully recovered prior to the start of the regular season. Prior to leaving for the WBC, Nimmo had been off to a nice start to spring training and will be hoping that he can still earn a spot on the Mets' Opening Day roster as a fifth outfielder.

Nimmo got the start in left field and hit leadoff Saturday against the Astros, and went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
EDGE Analysis
He's fighting for a spot on the Mets' bench to begin the season, and so far Nimmo is doing his part, hitting .476 through 21 at-bats. His ultimate job prospects might depend on what the team decides to do with Michael Conforto, but if Nimmo does break camp on the 25-man roster, he'd need an injury or a trade to have fantasy value outside of deep NL-only formats.

Nimmo could be the favorite to win the fifth outfielder role on the Mets' bench this spring, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The key to Nimmo's chances is what the front office decides to do with Michael Conforto. Conforto's the better prospect, but that fact could sway the Mets into returning him to Triple-A Las Vegas to get regular at-bats, rather than see sporadic playing time on the big league bench. In that case, Nimmo stands to fill the role instead, although either way his fantasy value would be limited outside of dynasty and keeper formats.

Nimmo could have a difficult time winning a spot on the Mets' roster this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Despite his huge .352/.423/.541 line in 97 games for Triple-A Las Vegas last season, the Mets simply don't have much room for the 23-year-old on the 25-man roster. Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson, Michael Conforto and Jay Bruce are all locked into spots, Juan Lagares is the superior defender, and there has been talk that Jose Reyes will be transitioned into a super-utility role that includes some time in the outfield. Even if Lagares or Bruce get dealt, Nimmo will probably have to return to Vegas to begin the season, and wait for his shot at a regular gig in the majors.

Nimmo will be called back up to the Mets on Tuesday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nimmo has bounced up-and-down between the majors and Triple-a Las Vegas the past several months and almost was dealt to Cincinnati for Jay Bruce. With with Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce all healthy, Nimmo, who hit .354/.424/.585 with 11 HR snd 61 RBI for the 51s, will have a hard time finding playing time the last several weeks of the season.

Nimmo was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas following Tuesday's game, the New York Daily News' Kristie Ackert reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nimmo logged just three at-bats since being recalled on Aug. 3 and he'll head back to Triple-A to provide organizational outfield depth. Even with Yoenis Cespedes on the DL, Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce stood ahead of Nimmo on the depth chart and the rookie could still benefit from playing every day. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.
