Bartolo Colon held a Marlins split-squad to two runs in 6 2/3 innings in the Mets' 10-2 win Saturday.
Colon also had a hit today. The portly 40-year-old hasn't had one in a regular-season game since 2005, and he's just 10-for-96 with 56 strikeouts lifetime. The Mets could care less if he makes outs at the same rate this year; they just don't want him to get hurt swinging or running the bases.

Bartolo Colon allowed four runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings against the Cubs Saturday.
Two of the seven hits found the bleachers, raising his spring ERA to 7.27. The right-hander didn't strike out a single batter over his 4 2/3 innings. Despite his struggles, his spot in the rotation isn't in danger.

Bartolo Colon surrendered three runs and five hits in four innings Monday versus the Marlins.
Colon was making his spring debut after suffering from some calf tightness last month. Obviously, he managed to continue building stamina during his absence -- he wouldn't have pitched four innings today if not -- but the Mets didn't want him having to field his position until he was past the tightness.

Bartolo Colon (calf) will make his Grapefruit League debut on Monday.
Colon threw 54 pitches in a scrimmage on Thursday, clearing the way for him to appear in his first game. The veteran right-hander has been nursing some calf tightness since early on in camp, but it appears the issue is behind him. The big right-hander could start on Opening Day if Jon Niese (shoulder) isn't ready.

Bartolo Colon (calf) threw 54 pitches in a scrimmage on Thursday morning in Mets camp.
Colon is hoping to make his Grapefruit League debut on Monday. He came down with some calf tightness at the end of February, so the Mets have been moving him along slowly. The veteran right-hander signed a two-year, $20 million contract with New York in December.

Bartolo Colon (calf) will appear in a "B" game on Thursday.
The Mets aren't letting Colon do any running after he tweaked his right calf last week, but it hasn't affected his throwing schedule. The big right-hander could start on Opening Day if Jon Niese (shoulder) isn't ready.

Bartolo Colon (calf) will throw his scheduled bullpen session on Friday.
Colon isn't allowed to run while nursing some minor right calf tightness, but it's not going to affect his throwing schedule. The injury is of no concern as long as it doesn't get worse.

Bartolo Colon is currently dealing with some calf tightness.
It's not considered major, but the Mets are being cautious, especially now that Jon Niese is dealing with shoulder soreness. Colon will likely be the Opening Day starter if Niese begins the season on the disabled list.

Bartolo Colon's representatives are asking for a two-year deal, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
And there's enough interest in the 40-year-old right-hander that it seems feasible. Colon posted a 2.65 ERA and 117/29 K/BB ratio in 190 1/3 innings this past season for the A's. He has been linked to the Orioles, Rangers, Mets, Mariners and Orioles, among others.
