Andy Martino of the New York Daily News hears from major league sources that the Royals could be interested in the Mets' Bartolo Colon or the Phillies' A.J. Burnett. Martino notes that the Royals might not be able to add the payroll necessary to acquire Colon or Burnett, but the team's evaluators like both pitchers. Colon, who got the best of Burnett on Monday, is owed $11 million next season. Burnett's contract includes a complicated player option for 2015 which already guarantees him $7.5 million. It will increase to $12.75 million if he makes 30 starts this season. He has already made 23 starts.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports writes that there "doesn't appear to be a great market" for Mets' right-hander Bartolo Colon. Colon has posted a 3.88 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 21 starts this season, but he's 41 years old and under contract for $11 million next season, so there is some hesitation about dealing for him. However, things could change in a hurry if teams move on from more high-profile names like Jon Lester, Cole Hamels, David Price, and John Lackey. The Mets could wait until August to make a deal or possibly move him over the offseason.

Bartolo Colon scattered 10 hits while holding the Phillies to one run in 7 2/3 innings in Monday's win. Colon hasn't been nearly as effective as he was last year, but he's lasted at least seven innings in 14 of 21 starts this year and allowed three runs or fewer 15 times. The Mets could cash him in if someone makes a nice offer this week, but since he still looks like he'll be an asset in 2015, their under no pressure to make a deal.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Pirates and Braves have scouts at Monday's Bartolo Colon versus A.J. Burnett matchup. It's not clear which pitcher each team is evaluating (and it's possible they're evaluating both). Colon certainly got the better of the matchup, as he tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball, while Burnett was tagged for seven runs over five frames. Both pitchers could be moved prior to Thursday's deadline.

The Mets are known to be shopping him with the July 31 trade deadline drawing near.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reported Monday that the Mets have let clubs know the big right-hander is available, but it appears the interest hasn't been there just yet. Ultimately, though, there are always teams looking for pitching, and Colon has pitched really well after a rough start, posting a 2.74 ERA over his last 10 starts. He's a good bet to be moved later this month.
