Colon will get the start Saturday in the Braves' Grapefruit League opener against the Blue Jays, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

He'll be followed in the spring rotation by Julio Teheran, R.A. Dickey, Mike Foltynewicz and Jaime Garcia, but at this point there's been no indication from manager Brian Snitker that the regular season rotation will line up the same way. The 43-year-old Colon heads into 2017 having pitched at least 190 innings in four straight seasons and won at least 10 games in five straight, and he's got a chance this year to pass Dennis Martinez as the all-time winningest pitcher from Latin America in MLB history.

Colon signed a one-year contract with the Braves on Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Colon had a surprisingly good year in his age-43 season, as he proceeded to post a 3.43 ERA and 4.0 K/BB despite rarely hitting 90 miles per hour with his fastball. He reportedly was interested in making a return with the Mets, but instead he'll become a veteran presence in a young Braves pitching staff. The ageless wonder seems to be in line to slot into the middle of Atlanta's rotation.

Re-signing Colon may be a backburner item for GM Sandy Alderson, who may be comfortable with the Mets' starting rotation depth, Joel Sherman of the NY Post reports.

Colon, who led the Mets in wins the past two season, has expressed some interest in returning to the Orange and Blue. But with Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Steven Matz, Zack Wheeler, Robert Gsellman and Seth Lugo in Queens, Alderson may feel he has enough depth. However, with deGrom. Harvey and Matz all returning from arm surgery, Wheeler having missed all of 2016 coming back from Tommy John surgery and Syndergaard pitching through bone spurs in his elbow last season, that depth is somewhat up in the air. Colon will pitch somewhere in 2017, but it remains to be seen if it will be back with the Mets.

Colon (15-8) gave up two earned runs on five hits over five innings in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Phillies. He struck out six.

EDGE Analysis

The Mets turned to the veteran in the wild-card clinching win and he didn't disappoint, firing 44 of 61 pitches for strikes and notching first-pitch strikes on 14 of 19 hitters overall. Colon's pitch count was carefully monitored as planned with the playoffs on tap, but he encouragingly was able to rebound from a disastrous outing against the Marlins on Sep. 26. The ageless right-hander wraps up the 2016 campaign with a ninth season of at least 15 wins.

Colon may start Friday's game against the Phillies on short rest to allow the Mets to line him up to start a potential wild card game on regular rest, James Wagner of the New York Times reports.

EDGE Analysis

He only threw 47 pitches in his start Monday, and Colon has pitched on short rest before in the regular season, so this is not out of the ordinary. The Mets currently hold a 0.5 game lead in the wild card standings, and if they were able to clinch a playoff spot before Friday, they could save Noah Syndergaard to pitch the wild card game, meaning Colon would pitch Saturday on normal rest.

Colon (14-8) lasted just 2.1 innings against the Marlins on Monday, allowing seven runs on eight hits, no walks, and no strikeouts, taking the loss.

EDGE Analysis

Dee Gordon drove Colon's third pitch of the night over the right field fence in what was an emotional start to the game for the Marlins. Things didn't get much better for Colon, who allowed four runs in the second and two in the third before being removed after 47 pitches. Colon entered Monday having thrown five consecutive quality starts, however, so fantasy owners have reason to hope he can bounce back in his final start of the regular season in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Colon went 6.2 innings of two-run ball Wednesday, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out six and earning a no-decision against the Braves.

EDGE Analysis

Colon was cruising through six innings Wednesday, pitching a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts. An Anthony Recker home run in the seventh spoiled the shutout, but Colon was still in line for his 15th win until the Mets bullpen allowed runs in the eighth and ninth innings to lose the game 4-3. Colon is 14-7 with an excellent 3.12 ERA on the year, and has pitched even better of late, going 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA in his last seven starts. He is a big reason why the Mets are right in contention for a wild card berth despite scoring the second fewest runs in baseball.

Colon (14-7) fired seven innings of scoreless, three-hit ball against the Twins on Friday, walking two and striking out six.

EDGE Analysis

The ageless righty tamed what has generally been a potent offense in recent weeks, throwing 67 of 94 pitches for strikes over an efficient seven innings. Colon has four quality starts in a row, along with victories in his last four decisions. He'll look to continue his strong stretch when he takes on the Braves next Wednesday.

Colon allowed three runs on four hits and one walk Saturday against Atlanta while striking out two. He did not factor into the decision.

EDGE Analysis

The ageless Colon continues to play a critical role in keeping the Mets' playoffs aspirations alive. The 43-year-old is 13-7 on the season with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He has also become more effective as the season has progressed, having logged quality starts in seven of his last eight appearances.

Colon will have his start moved up to Saturday, Marc Carig of Newsday Sports reports.

EDGE Analysis

It was revealed that Seth Lugo had a blister in his last start, so the Mets seem inclined to let his finger heal an extra day. This allows Colon to slide up and square off against John Gant. This doesn't change his outlook all that much considering Williams Perez was the pitcher he would've faced on Sunday, but either way, the 43-year-old is an intriguing play against the dreary Atlanta offense this weekend.
