Colon (oblique) is expected to come off the DL and start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Dan O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran is dealing with a strained oblique, but he made it through a side session Monday without issue, and the plan is for him to return to action without a rehab assignment. Colon, who last pitched on June 5 against the Phillies, has been erratic thus far in 2017, allowing six or more earned runs in five of his 12 starts on the year.

Colon (oblique) threw a side session Monday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Apparently everything went without a hitch, and manager Brian Snitker said Colon will toss one or two more side sessions before they "get him back out there," per O'Brien. The plan was to originally return Colon to the rotation upon his activation, though it's unclear if that's still the case. He isn't scheduled to return to the rotation this weekend, but the 44-year-old could enter the bullpen as early as Friday if that's where he ends up.

Colon (oblique) is not expected to come off the disabled list when first eligible, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
There hasn't been any word on how Colon is progressing through his recovery, but the Braves confirmed he won't be able to rejoin the big club until at least after the weekend. An updated timetable for his return should become available once the Braves update his status, while Sean Newcomb will continue to start in Colon's place for the time being.

Colon was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a left oblique strain.
EDGE Analysis
Just as Colon seemed to have lost his grasp on a rotation spot, news of an injury surfaced to put him on the shelf for the time being. No word on the severity of the injury has come forth, although oblique injuries are known to linger for a good amount of time. The first start the veteran would be eligible to make would come June 16 against the Marlins. No corresponding move has been at this time, either, although most signals are pointing toward Triple-A pitchers covering his next few turns in the rotation as opposed to a long reliever already in the big leagues.

Colon (2-7) is at risk of losing his spot in the rotation after he allowed eight runs on seven hits over just 3.2 innings Monday against Philadelphia, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The outing raised Colon's ERA all the way up to 7.78 and his WHIP to 1.71. Atlanta has a doubleheader on Saturday, which may save Colon for now, but the Braves are considering their options, and even if Colon survives the axe, his leash is getting awfully short.

Colon (2-6) gave up nine runs, only two of which were earned, on seven hits and a walk over 2.1 innings in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Angels. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
All the runs scored in the third inning as errors by Jace Peterson, Dansby Swanson and Colon himself prolonged a frame that saw 11 straight Angels batters reach base. The 44-year-old will take a 6.99 ERA and 1.66 WHIP into his next start Monday at home against the Phillies.

Colon (2-5) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out just a single batter over five innings during Thursday's loss to Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a hit-or-miss season for Colon, and he was way off the mark Thursday. The veteran has held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in four of his 10 starts but surrendered 26 runs through his other six outings. With a 6.96 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 5.8 K/9 for the year, Colon is difficult to rely on in any fantasy format at this point. He projects to make his next start on the road against the Angels.

Colon (2-4) gave up two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings before exiting the game after a lengthy rain delay in Saturday's win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves had staked him to a lead, but the 110-minute delay kept Colon from returning to finish the fifth inning and qualify for the victory. The 43-year-old will take a 6.38 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into his next start Thursday at home against the Pirates.

Colon (2-4) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks across five innings in Monday's win over the Blue Jays. He recorded one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Colon consistently put men on and was scored upon in three separate innings, but he was able to limit the damage and was picked up by a strong offensive performance from his teammates. He needed just 81 pitches to complete five frames and has now issued two walks or fewer in all eight of his starts in 2017. Even with that type of control, Colon still sports an unsightly 6.80 ERA on the season to go along with an underwhelming 5.6 K/9, and he isn't a particularly attractive fantasy play heading into Saturday's matchup with the Nationals.

Colon (1-4) was blasted for eight runs on eight hits (including three homers) in 5.2 innings in Tuesday's loss to Houston. He struck out three without a walk.
EDGE Analysis
While it's nice that Colon was able to limit the walks, they're rarely his undoing -- rather, it's all that contact he gives up that's usually the trouble. He's been ripped to the tune of 46 hits in 38.2 innings this year, and eight of those have left the yard. It's been particularly ugly recently, as Colon has now allowed the opposition to score 23 earned runs in his last 21.2 frames. While the nearly 44-year-old righty will surprise you with the odd gem, it looks like the late-career mojo that's been keeping him going is fading away fast. Counting on Colon and his 6.05 K/9 in fantasy right now is a recipe for disaster.
