Gomber pitched three innings, allowing two hits, a walk and striking out one during Saturday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber was sharp in his debut as he returned from a stress fracture that kept him out of the final month of 2021. Gomber is a lock for the Rockies rotation if healthy after posting a 4.53 ERA in 115.1 innings during 23 starts a season ago.

Gomber said Tuesday that he's back to full health after missing the final month of the 2021 due to a stress fracture in his back, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. "I've been pretty much 100 percent healthy since about mid-October," Gomber said. "Had a fairly normal offseason when it comes to build up and workouts."
EDGE Analysis
Assuming his back doesn't present any further problems over the course of his ramp-up program at spring camp, Gomber should be in strong position to crack the Rockies' Opening Day rotation, after he turned in a respectable 4.53 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 113:41 K:BB in 115.1 innings over 23 starts a season ago. Of course, pitching his home games at elevation in Coors Field will likely continue to limit his upside in the two ratio categories, and a middle-of-the-road strikeout rate may not make him a must-start option in pitcher-friendly road venues either.

Gomer (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber was ruled out for the season Saturday after being placed on the 10-day IL with spondyloysis, a stress fracture in the bones of the lower spine, so it was only a matter of time before he moved to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. The left-hander finished his first year in Colorado with a 4.53 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 113:41 K:BB across 115.1 innings (23 starts). It's not yet clear if he'll be ready for the start of spring training in February.

Gomber (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. He is out for the season.
EDGE Analysis
The condition Gomber is dealing with is called spondylolysis or pars defect, a stress fracture of the bones of the lower spine. Gomber ends his first season with Colorado with a 9-9 record, 4.53 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 115.1 innings. It's uncertain whether he'll be a full go for the start of spring training. Gomber will be transferred to the 60-day IL on Sunday to make room on the 40-man roster for Ryan Feltner.

Gomber (9-9) allowed four runs on four hits and six walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber needed 89 pitches to get through 13 outs in Tuesday's outing as he struggled significantly with his command. The six walks were the most he's had since his 2021 debut against the Dodgers on April 4, during which he issued seven free passes in just three innings. He had no trouble in the opening frame Tuesday but then went on to give up four runs over the next 3.1 innings, including two solo home runs. The left-hander now has three losses in his last four outings and owns a 4.53 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 113:41 K:BB over 115.1 innings. He's tentatively lined up for a meeting against Atlanta his next time out.

Gomber (9-8) took the loss against the Cubs in Game 1of Wednesday's doubleheader, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw served up three homers in the contest, accounting for all five runs scored against him. Gomber has struggled over his past three outings, giving up 13 earned runs across 13.2 frames. On the plus side, he struck out eight batters Wednesday, tied for his second-highest single-game mark in 2021. Gomber will carry a 4.38 ERA into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come at Texas early next week.

Gomber allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings in a no-decision versus Arizona on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw worked on a few extra days of pitching rest after he was placed on the paternity list earlier in the week. He completed only one 1-2-3 inning, which took place in his fifth and final frame, but kept the score close in an eventual Rockies win. Gomber has been off-and-on of late, mixing two quality starts in which he has logged at least seven punchouts with a trio of less-effective outings that have included three or fewer strikeouts over his past five starts. He's scheduled to take the mound again on the road against the Cubs next week.

Gomber was activated off the paternity list as expected ahead of his scheduled start Friday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber was previously expected to start Wednesday against the Padres but had his outing pushed back two days while he went on paternity leave. He'll still be pitching at Coors Field but will now be doing so against a team that's been far worse at the plate this season than San Diego, as the Diamondbacks rank 27th in the league in wRC+ compared to 12th for the Padres.

Gomber will return from the paternity list to start Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gomber initially lined up to start Wednesday against the Padres before he was placed on the paternity list, but he'll be pushed back by one game after spending three days away from the team. The southpaw has posted a 5.48 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 23 innings across his last five starts.

Gomber was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Players typically miss around three days on the paternity list, which means Gomber won't be able to start Wednesday against the Padres as previously scheduled. Chi Chi Gonzalez will start in his place that day, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. It's not yet clear if Gomber will skip his turn in the rotation entirely or merely be bumped back by a few days.
