Andrew McCutchen belted a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Rays.
McCutchen drilled an opposite-field shot against David Price with one out in the ninth to spoil Price's shutout bid, but that's as close as the Pirates got. It was one of just five hits -- and the lone extra-base knock -- on the day for the Bucs. McCutchen is sporting a nifty .315/.420/.527 batting line this season.

He still has a little over three months to catch up to Troy Tulowtizki if he wants to defend his NL MVP award. McCutchen is slashing .316/.422/.521 with 11 home runs, 47 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.

Andrew McCutchen had three hits, two RBI, two runs scored and two steals versus the Rays on Monday.
That'll do nicely. McCutchen had been in a little mini-slump, with just one run scored and two RBI in his previous seven games. Tonight's game was only the second of the season in which he had multiple runs scored and RBI.

Andrew McCutchen homered, doubled and walked twice against the Cubs on Wednesday.
McCutchen was having a rather ho-hum season 10 days ago. Now he has six homers in June, taking his season total from four to 10 and his OPS from .862 to .976. Last year, he won MVP honors with a .911 OPS. Of course, McCutchen won't be MVP again unless his teammates join him in playing a whole lot better, but he's just as valuable as ever.
