Andrew McCutchen was held out of the Pirates' lineup Saturday due to a "gimpy" right ankle. The Pirates aren't revealing any details yet about the severity of the ankle injury. McCutchen went 1-for-4 in the Bucs' defeat of the Cardinals on Friday night and is batting .319 with a stellar .938 OPS in 35 games this year. Losing him to the 15-day disabled list would obviously be a massive blow for the Bucs, who are in fourth place in the National League Central.

The BBWAA has announced Andrew McCutchen as the 2013 National League MVP. The vote wasn't close as many were thinking, as McCutchen received 28 of 30 first-place votes and tallied 167 points ahead of runner-up Paul Goldschmidt. Yadier Molina got the other two first-place votes and came in third. McCutchen led the Pirates to their first winning season since 1992, batting .317/.404/.508 with 21 homers, 84 RBI and 27 steals while playing Gold Glove-caliber defense.
