Heaney posted a shutout through five innings Sunday, but still recorded the no-decision, giving up just six hits and two walks in a loss to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
A miserable performance by Huston Street robbed Heaney of the victory as the 24-year-old gave up just one extra-base hit, a double by Jose Altuve, in five innings of work. With the Angels clinging to their playoff hopes, Heaney will take the mound at Target Field in a nearly must-win game against the Twins on Friday.

Heaney fell to 6-3 Tuesday against the Dodgers as he allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
After looking invincible to open his Angels career, Heaney has shown some vulnerability since August. He has allowed at least four runs in three of his past seven starts after allowing no more than two in any of his first seven. Still, Heaney owns a 3.52 ERA through his first 14 starts and 84.1 innings and a brilliant 62:17 K:BB. He has walked one or zero batters in nine of his 14 starts, and that control will be his key to getting back on track.

Heaney turned in seven strong innings in a win over the A's on Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Spotted a four-run lead before he even took the hill, Heaney allowed Oakland to get within a run in the bottom of the first, but the lefty went on to allow just two hits over his final six innings. The six strikeouts were his most since July 12, and Heaney did not issue a free pass for the third time this season. He lines up to face the Dodgers at home his next time out.

Heaney turned in a very impressive performance Friday night, tossing six shutout innings against the Indians. He allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Heaney (5-2, 3.11 ERA) actually left with a 1-0 lead after hurling 88 pitches (60 for strikes) in his six innings. Unfortunately, Trevor Gott was ineffective in relief, allowing three runs while recording just two outs which wasted Heaney's effort. The Angels are being careful to monitor Heaney's workload, but he has solid upside and will likely be a key part of their rotation for the the rest of this season and beyond.

Heaney gave up two runs on eight hits with zero walks and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings Tuesday against the Rockies to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Heaney was very efficient, as he was pulled after throwing 94 pitches (65 strikes) midway through the eighth inning. The talented southpaw has now given up four runs on 14 hits and three walks through 20.1 innings since joining the Angels rotation, and it's hard to see him relinquishing his spot anytime soon. Heaney is on schedule to make the last start of the first half Sunday in Seattle.

Heaney picked up his first career win behind seven stellar innings Tuesday against the Yankees, as he allowed just one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
A Mark Teixeira home run was Heaney's only blemish. The reclaimed Marlins prospect has looked brilliant in his first two Angels starts, as he has a 1.38 ERA and 12 strikeouts against three walks in 13 innings. Heaney was still ranked as the 25th-best prospect by MLB.com prior to the season despite a brutal 5.83 ERA in his debut stint with the Marlins. His early Angels career is showing why.

Heaney was excellent in his Angels debut Wednesday, giving up just one run on four hits and walk over six innings against Houston. He struck out five.
The game ended up being decided in 13 innings, long after Heaney was gone, but he made a positive first impression in American League play. Heaney's posted unimpressive Triple-A numbers -- a 4.71 ERA and 1.54 WHIP -- but his solid 74:25 K:BB suggests that he may simply have been a victim of the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League environment. He's in line to stay in the Angels' rotation for a few turns while Jered Weaver (hip) is sidelined, and if Heaney makes a good impression, he could force the team into a tough decision when Weaver returns.

Heaney has been recalled from Triple-A and will start Wednesday against the Astros.
Heaney's promotion to the majors comes on the heels of the hip injury that sent Jered Weaver to the disabled list. He should temporarily keep a spot in the rotation, but he will likely get bumped following the All-Star break.

Heaney struck out seven and walked a pair while tossing six scoreless innings against Triple-A Reno on Sunday.
His peripherals have been impressive in the Pacific Coast League this season, as he's posted a 43:12 K:BBB over 43.1 innings while holding the opposition to just one home run. The 23-year-old may be in line for a promotion to the Angels the next time a vacancy arises in the Anaheim rotation.

Heaney was knocked around in his second start for Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday allowing seven runs (four earned) on six hits with a walk and a strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.
Heaney's bad start may have come at the worst possible time for the 23-year-old, as Hector Santiago threw seven innings of one-run ball against the Rangers on Wednesday. Garrett Richards (knee) could return as early as Sunday against the Astros, and while nothing has been announced regarding who will get the No. 5 spot in the rotation, Santiago's strong showing could potentially be enough to keep Heaney in the minors for a while longer.
