Heaney was excellent in his Angels debut Wednesday, giving up just one run on four hits and walk over six innings against Houston. He struck out five. The game ended up being decided in 13 innings, long after Heaney was gone, but he made a positive first impression in American League play. Heaney's posted unimpressive Triple-A numbers -- a 4.71 ERA and 1.54 WHIP -- but his solid 74:25 K:BB suggests that he may simply have been a victim of the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League environment. He's in line to stay in the Angels' rotation for a few turns while Jered Weaver (hip) is sidelined, and if Heaney makes a good impression, he could force the team into a tough decision when Weaver returns.
