Jon Heyman of CBS Sports was told by one general manager that the Dodgers would likely have to cover half of Andre Ethier's contract in order to move him in a trade. The possibility is being raised now that top prospect Yasiel Puig is up in the big leagues. It won't be long before Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford are back from the disabled list, so Puig could head right back down to the minors once they are ready. Trading Ethier could change that, but finding a taker for his contract will be difficult unless the Dodgers are willing to cover a portion of his remaining contract. Ethier is in the second year of a five-year, $85 million extension. It already looks like an albatross.

Andre Ethier is making just his second career start in center field Thursday against the Angels. Matt Kemp seems likely to head to the disabled list, so the Dodgers are giving Ethier a shot at a position he's played just once since 2007. He's unlikely to be used there regularly, as the Dodgers figure to give Skip Schumaker a shot there or call up Joc Pederson.

While Either apparently didn't make the cut Wednesday, he's back in there now.

Andre Ethier will receive a day off on Friday. It's just a day of rest for the outfielder. Ethier has been hot of late, batting .500/.526/.625 over his last five contests.

Andre Ethier went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored Saturday against the Marlins. Ethier had been driven in just four times in 33 games all season until it happened three times this season. Since scoring runs figures to remain a problem all year long and he's a complete zero in steals, he's pretty limited as a fantasy outfielder these days.

Andre Ethier went 0-for-4 on Saturday, ending his season-opening eight-game hitting streak. Ethier's hitting streak wasn't resulting in great numbers anyway. Though nine games, he has just one run scored and two RBI. The run scored came on his lone homer.

Andre Ethier is not in the Dodgers' lineup Sunday. He's just getting a day off against southpaw Jeff Locke. Jerry Hairston is starting in right field in Ethier's place.
