Gordon (Achilles) is back in the lineup Monday against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports. He'll play left field and bat sixth in the order.
EDGE Analysis
After he experienced tightness in his Achilles during Saturday's game, Gordon was rested for Sunday's series finale with the Tigers for what appears to have been precautionary purposes. The outfielder evidently felt fine after going through warmup drills and batting practice Monday, so he should be in store for a full slate of starts during the week. Gordon is batting .242 with seven homers, three steals, 17 RBI and 28 runs in 161 at-bats since the All-Star break.

Gordon (Achilles) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio AM reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon's absence was expected after he battled discomfort in his Achilles during Saturday's game, but the Royals are hopeful he'll only need a day off before potentially returning to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Twins. In Gordon's stead, Whit Merrifield will make a start in left field.

Gordon went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 6-3 victory over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon followed a three-run blast by Eric Hosmer earlier in the first to plate Kendrys Morales with a 394-foot shot to center to close out a five-run opening frame. The veteran outfielder is finally starting to hit his stride at the plate, with seven homers and 10 RBI since Aug. 16.

Gordon homered for the third straight day Thursday, this time socking a fourth-inning grand slam in an 8-2 win over Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
He's also hit safely in nine straight and scored a run in seven straight, lifting his average 20 points in the process. Gordon's season stats are still ugly, but he seems to have finally returned to form on the back end of an injury-marred campaign and thus is worth deploying in fantasy lineups the rest of the way.

Gordon is hitting .269/.333/.423 so far in August after coming into the month hitting .206/.313/.335.
EDGE Analysis
Most of the 32-year-old's improvement can be attributed to his batting average on balls in play jumping from .272 to .387. Although unconfirmed, Gordon's early-season struggles could stem from a broken bone in his right hand that sent him to the DL on May 23

Gordon went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Monday's 3-1 win over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon has lacked power with just 20 extra-base hits all season, but has come on with four multi-hit games during his current six-game hitting streak. The veteran still has a long way to go to make up for a pitiful .216/.317/.341 line through 86 games.

Gordon went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon hadn't homered since July 10, and was just 3-for-24 on the current road trip when he went deep off Drew Smyly in the fourth for the Royals only offense of the day. The outfielder's 10th MLB season has been a disaster so far. Through 262 at-bats, Gordon holds career-worst numbers in strikeout rate and isolated power. He's also fallen off post All-Star break over the last three years, so counting on him to fix those numbers down the stretch might be a long shot.

Gordon went 3-for-4 with two runs against the Angels on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Those three hits have his average back over .200 as Gordon continues trying to get his injury-shortened campaign on track. This has been the worst season of his career, narrowly beating out his disastrous 2010 season, but perhaps the big day will help Gordon find himself down the stretch.
